It's basically just a political map- so yellow is Griffonia, red is Dragon Territories (technically under Equestria), Changelings are dark purple, Zebra territories are white due to internal border disputes, Equestrians are light purple, Crystalia is pink, and Yakyakistan is just Yakyakistan :p
If you'll notice, the colonial region of Dustbowl is yellow, to represent its ties to Griffonia :p
