Gotta Catch Em' All! - Bad Steryotypes! · 6:19am April 30th
This post is for people who have read up to chapter 5 of my Saved!!! story only.
Those who prove they didn't in the comments will be ignored.
When writing chapter 2, I came to a realization that Ponder followed in the footsteps of many bad ocs of fandom:
Alicorn
Tragic backstory
Plot revolves around him (for the most part)
But then I realized that I actually didn't do too bad ( at least according to my beta readers and the vote ratio ) :
He misfired his Alicorn powers, not even being able to make use of them.
He only brings up his tragic past when it's relevant or during plot-driven self-defeating mental spasms
He DID make quite the entrance, unintentional or not. Also he's an alien..
And I further realized that I want to do more stuff like this.
Turn bad writing stereotypes -
into good ones.
What looks to be bad and a pain to even think about at a first glance,
Into something enjoyable to read and that works within the story.
