Concerning "When Life Gives You EXP" · 8:37pm March 8th
I bet you already know what this blog is about.
Welp, I'm canceling my very first story on this website.
I wasn't able to update it for, well, quite a while. Not even because of some real life problems, but rather due to the amount of the mistakes I've made while writing it. This includes both story writing and grammar. I belive that I don't have to exhaling the latter. Though, I'd really like to talk more about the story writing. Maybe it will help someone to avoid the same mistakes that I've made.
First of all, as one of the comments under my story stated, my main character was completely emotionless and irrational at the start. And I can really understand why...
"Oh wow, I'm in another dimension? Yeah cool, now Imma follow a random path. Oh wow a town!" Proceeds to get scared all of the sudden
Sure, maybe it was my first time writing a story, but seriously? Out of all the reactions I could have imagined, I chose THIS? Well, alright, I tried to explaing it later on with 'inhibitors'... But it made it look even worse. Seriously, I was pulling abilities and buffs out of the thin air! And speaking of power...
When I've uploaded the very first chapter of "When Life Gives You EXP", I promised myself that I wouldn't turn my character into an edgy OP character with some edgy abilities and idiotic downsides.
..I belive that I don't have to continue with this, yeah? I mean, if you don't think that a dude who can use magic, turn into a dragon and also has Sombra as his gal is not over powered, then sure, maybe I'm just thinking in the wrong direction and overreacting.
And finally, another reason for this is that I simply can't move the plot from it's current point in the story. I can't really explain this one properly, so sorry.
Now, I know what you might think. Wouldn't it be better to edit some chapters?
On one hand, yeah, thays a perfect solution. Seriously, simply changing the story chapter by chapter would be a good solution.
That is, if I wanted to edit it. Like I've mentioned before, my story is a complete mess. I personally belive that writing a new story would be a way better option, just like One awesome author did.
..which I might also do by the way. Don't get your hopes up though, that definitely won't be in the nearby future.
I really appreciate the support you fellas gave me, while I was writing it. Honestly, the only thing that was motivationg me to continue on with this story, were your encouraging comments, and I'm really sorry for disappointing you all.
Luckily, there are plenty of the similar stories on the FIMfiction, so you don't have to look long for the fanfiction with the same "EXP" system in it, if that's what you all found attractive in my story.
