With my quest/race to get a Rainbow S on all of Freedom Planet 2's stages, my creativity lit up like a bonfire again, and I started crafting an alternate ending of sorts for the past week.

So this week, the Together Tree that trapped Opaline within its roots didn't envelop as much of the castle as we initially thought.
Then a bunch of clubbing Racoonicorns destroy everything.
So, um, is Opaline like dead now? Because now there's nothing left of the castle or tree.

If it were me, I'd say that the Together Tree withered away. With Opaline there, there was an attempt to grow the thing. Through Misty's character arc, it grew enough to reach out to the other trees. But no pony is there anymore. They have no reason to go to it. My understanding is that they flourish in the presence of unity and friendship and crap, but without anyone there, it just wilts away into nothing.
Can't tell if the alicorns are going to be the season 3 story arc or if the G5 Six are going to pointedly ignore Alura in favor of the alicorns (also can't remember if Alura is spelled with one 'l' or two). With the latter, it'd be some shit if Alura took advantage of them pointedly ignoring her in favor of the alicorn plot by enacting her plans while they're away.
Not declaring anypony dead until I see a body or they are vaporized Sombra-style. Or they are basically treated as dead, ala AJ's parents.

Yeah i was not expecting that at all although i am pretty excited to see how they were discover other allocorns but yeah those animals ruin the castle so i wonder if she really gone for good hmm
I think what happened is that the raccoonicorns ate Opaline. You know, kinda like how your pets are planing to eat you when you die, but you’re not mad about it because you know they think you’d do the same?

I should be more clear (I edited my other post accordingly): Unlike AJ's parents, Opaline's fate has not been treated like a death, ala AJ's parents. She's just gone.

Depends. Seems like it's been a while since Opaline's defeat. Depending on how long it took for the tree to rot away, she might've been trapped in its roots long enough to rot away with it. And that's assuming she wasn't crushed or suffocated by the tree when it trapped her in its roots.
Or, you know, TYT forgot a couple of details. Wouldn't be the first time a story has done that.

Lol, and yet Discord brought Sombra back with some kind of spell and circle rune. Even made it look easy enough for death to feel trivial in MLP.
Regardless, I think this discussion has been had before, and my take on it was whether or not Opaline returns depends on whether or not the writers feel like bringing her back.

We have had suspicions. I mean, her book in the movie had Twilight's CM. Although at ZH's station thingy, that "Starscout Crest" was in the window panes. So why didn't they call it Twilight's Cutie Mark!? Because then it'd get expensive (again, that old discussion on Hasbro losing the rights to names/designs to another party).
It was certainly a wild one, but I suspect this is the next major arc.
