Goofin Off with AI Art · 2:45am February 6th
Hey All,
The revision is chugging along. In the meantime, I figured I share some fun with y'all. After seeing how to generate AI Art from a buddy of mine, I've been playing around with the concept in some of the little spare time I have. I've been wanting to get a real cover art going for a while, but never really had the time or idea of what I wanted or the know-how on how to get one so I figured, why not try with AI generation? Thus, I wish to share with you all 27 attempts I tried in trying to get the AI to obey!
So attempt #1. Like I said, not sure what I want so I decided to start with a prompt to do the original cover art.
Ok. It shows promise. I mean, Arctic is completely wrong and on a completely different ship and I asked to make him a changeling at first but decided to keep the style and do his pony form instead.
ATTEMPT #2!
Hey! How about that, it actually got his colors! The blue lightning bolt is a nice touch too. I'll be forefront right here, the AI doesn't seem to get the idea of his cutie mark so the blue lightning bolt is the best I'm gonna get. He's also still on the wrong boat and extremely pouty...
Third Time the Charm?
Nope, definitely not! I don't know why, but the AI is extremely stubborn on putting Arctic on the actual ship itself. Let's give it another shot.

And now the AI thinks he's Jesus.... Oi very, come on! Looks pretty epic though. You may start understanding I'm not great at describing what I want in pictures... But, this does give me an idea. What If I got him flying instead?

I went back to trying to get the AI onto the actual ship by making the perspective a first-person one staring out to sea. It worked, but no pony...
And then. I got it, The shot I've been waiting for. Attempt #10 was as near perfect as I was going to get the AI. It was beautiful and brilliant, it even got the glowing eyes from the original by pure accident.
And to keep you all in suspense, I'm placing the image at the very end MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Attempts #11-18 were just me asking for different variations of Number 10. At one point, it gave Arctic a jacket and I played around with that idea as well.
Is it just me? Or is the ship getting smaller with each attempt?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this ship is shrinking....
And now it's sinking.... Quick! Abandon ship! To the Lighthouse!!!
From this point on, I stopped trying to recreate the cover art and moved onto when Arctic first encountered the abandoned lighthouse in Equestria. This first attempt nearly knocked it straight out of the ball park!

I really, really like this one. It gives me Alan Wake vibes and I just, really like it. Probably my second favorite of all of these. I asked for a second variation of this and.... well....

I have no idea what happened here. Arctic somehow turned into a monochrome Sprout and everything went minimalistic. At this point, the leather jacket gave me an accessory idea for Arctic. So I ditched the jacket and asked to give him a light harness instead to give him a sort of explorer/survivalist look to him. I may give that to him in the revision now that I think about it. A little bit more personality to him.

Honestly, not a bad reset. I actually like this one. Probably my third favorite.

Sadly, this was the last image I was able to generate today. I want to explore some of this again and see if I can get anywhere close to other scenes presented in CotE, Though I'm not sure if I'll have much success. And speaking of successes, behold! Attempt #10, my favorite of them all, and possibly future cover art in all of its glory!!!
