Killing Fluttershy: Debrief · 3:39pm January 31st
What does it say about me that I didn't think of anything about naming a story "Killing Fluttershy" with a cover that, also, only said "Killing Fluttershy" in a snazzy font? Maybe I'm the real Fluttershy hater here, that my gut reaction upon seeing such a cover was "haha this is gonna be so cool" instead of "maybe people will think I want to kill this horse?"
Which I don't, by the way. Lesson learned here! Is it mean that the reactions that came from this just made me laugh? I'm sorry to the commenter that told me it was wrong of me to want Fluttershy dead. I laughed out loud. It was so absurd an accusation to get over the internet. I don't want her dead, I swear! As anyone that's reading this blog post will know, hopefully because they reached the end of the story, Fluttershy doesn't actually die. Why is that?
This story was born from a prompt from the BWG: "Killing Fluttershy", which, by the way, came from my friend from the same group Psuedobobbious. So if you want to blame somebody for Killing Fluttershy... well.... anyway. I wanted to try something 'experimental', and a desire to write from the 2nd person was still leftover from my homestuck days. From the beginning the premise was always going to be someone trying to kill Fluttershy, and I thought it would be funny if it was a self-insert type of character that you see all the time here on fimfic. The ideas flowed from there. I was trying to be a bit meta about it. Everyone loves Fluttershy, it's hard not to love her; what if someone saw that and got irrationally angry about it because they themselves wanted that love and weren't getting it? There's other readings of this, though i'm not sure if this is well written enough to warrant them. But that was the crux of the idea.
I won't say it isn't a little disheartening that so many dislike on reactions, or comment on the fic without reading it first. I did put effort into writing this, and I would have liked to hear opinions on it based off the reading. But at the end of the day I guess it's understandable that this isn't exactly very popular, considering I completely misread how the fic was presented as. Whatever the case, I thank everyone who gave it a chance. You are all the real Fluttershy Fans
You aren't a Fluttershy hater, but you are indeed operating with a bias on your mind, since it is exactly what the cover communicates.
Idea how to fix it: rename it as '****ing Fluttershy'.
That is a joke.
