(Re)Work commencing on Midnight Rising... · 8:53pm January 23rd
As promised on a blog in early December, I’m coming back to Midnight Rising with the intention of rewriting the poorly done ending to the Molly/Vesuvius duel to something far more fitting and appropriate. And once that’s done? I’m proceeding directly into the next chapter with the intention of putting the story back on track, finally focusing on Lemon Zest.
I’ll address the story getting off track within the story itself using the narrative device I came up with in earlier chapters by having a couple new additions to the peanut gallery severely ding Sunset’s creative writing work (and thus mine) on that basis. Can’t get much more meta than that! And when the new LZ chapter posts, I’ll put a blurb further back in the story saying that if readers wish to skip the coming tangent, they can go straight to the LZ chapter and point them at it.
I should have a redone chapter ready by this weekend. And as they were the ones to point out the issues, I extend to readers SPIKE2022 and Implausible Deniability an offer to preread it.
EDIT: This is blog #666! How appropriate it comes when I discuss Midnight Rising...
A new trick for an old story. I trust whatever it is will work well considering your decade-long experience with pushing new and innovative forms of narration in your stories, starting all the way back in 2012 with Five Star Service.
666, eh? Can I hear a hail, Satan!?
