New Year, New Ambitions · 6:12am January 1st
Happy New Year to you all. I hope you're all doing well.
I type this as I sit in the dark, letting the last gasps of 2023 fade away, and thinking of the year in review.
This year has been... so-so. Many of my resolutions went unsolved. This obviously has me very unsatisfied. So, for the coming year, I'm dialing it back just a little.
Most relevant to this site, something I've already made some progress for: FINISHING BLOODHOUND BY THE END OF THE YEAR.
I really wanted to finish Bloodhound: The Mare in the Mirror during 2023. But real life circumstances and my own admittedly poor choices interfered. But right now, I AM DETERMINED.
I would also greatly like to continue work on my own ongoing story full of tales of toony terror: Happy Vale. I want to grow that story. It's a labor of love years in the making, and I want to treat it with the respect it deserves. Expect to see little bits of it here in my blogs. After all, what good are tales of terror if you can't share them with your friends?
Lastly, the one that admittedly terrifies me the most: I desperately want to get a job. My experience in the work world has not been pleasant. Both of the official jobs I've had in the past ended in under a few weeks, partly due to my poor physical and psychological conditions at the time. Mostly I've just held the title of "housekeeper," cleaning the home of and helping care for my elderly family members, in exchange for the ability to live with them. I need to make my own independence.
But like with Bloodhound, I am determined. I have grown since those failures. I'm more than I used to be. I can't fully say I believe in myself yet. Low self-esteem is a hell of a drug. But I finally dredged up the will to try, and it's a start.
Sorry for the melodramatic speech. I needed to psych myself up for what's to come.
How was your 2023? I know it wasn't the best of times for many. Do you have any plans for 2024?
