Ah, health. You've been a real pain these past few weeks, you know that?
Anyway, while I'm waiting for the artwork I've mentioned previously: a number of times while writing the story, I've gotten the setting's timeline mixed up. I went back over the story and wrote out the key details (and a few minor ones) to make sure I have things in order. Figured I might as well share it.
This timeline is current as of February 2, 2024. Also, WARNING: contains spoilers.
Story begins around one year before Twilight Sparkle is sent to Ponyville. Manehattan has recently hosted the Summer Sun Celebration.
Day 1: Leviathan (hereafter referred to as "Levi" for simplicity) arrives in Manehattan and becomes acquainted with Gray Ghost, Ebony Evening, Turkey Bowl, and Drama Heart. Levi starts sheltering at the Pyre of Fears. The Midnight Castles are captured.
Day 2: Levi is acquainted with Bossa Nova, the Royal Police, Gilbert, Charity Kindheart, and a playful foal. Buried Lede interviews her and any eyewitnesses to her initial appearances.
Day 3: The special edition of the Minutes about Levi begins circulation.
Day 5: Drama teaches Levi about heartsongs. Levi meets the rest of Gray's family. Ebony starts putting in more effort towards overcoming her pediophobia. Celestia and Levi become pen pals. Drama leaves to visit a cousin in Baltimare. Alexandrite apologizes to/bribes Levi with money for her role on Day 1. Levi briefly fights an unexpected sickness.
Day 8: Levi attends Turkey's bowling match, but leaves early to protect Gray's family from a suspicious member of the opposing team. Gray flips out and destroys the Pyre's stairway. Drama returns from Baltimare, discovers the damage, and "hires" Gray to work there until further notice. Ebony is also hired, this time without the quotes.
Day 15: Battle damage from Omega is fully repaired. Levi has exhibition matches against Bossa Nova (arm wrestling) and Gray (combat). Cocoa Mocha's agents arrive in the city. Limefrost Spiral gets splashed.
Day 16: Cocoa's group strikes against Manehattan and breaks out Bastion and Gates. Gray, acting without official orders, tracks the group to Mocha HQ and steals their dossiers. Levi agrees to aid the Police directly.
Day 17: Levi defeats the four agents that Cocoa sends after her, becoming acquainted with Babs Seed in the process. Levi enlists the aid of two of the Midnight Castles. Cocoa passes away from old age, but reawakens in his granddaughter Hazelnut and begins taking a more active role, operating under her true name of First Quarter. Levi meets Tiffany Polari. Gray learns the truth about her mental disorder, and later tracks down and reconciles with one of the scientists responsible. Quarter transfers her original Cutie Mark to Project Ashes. Limefrost gets no respect.
Day 18: The Minutes' edition on Levi's crusade hits the streets. Quarter tells the truth about Project Ashes to Ignition.
Day 19: Levi briefly crosses paths with Quarter while on patrol. The magic school graduates that Celestia summoned meet in Canterlot and begin their study project. Quarter is diagnosed with cancer and is forced to stay at the hospital for the foreseeable future, leaving Ignition in charge of the group.
Day 20: The trial for the remaining Midnight Castles takes place. An unofficial branch of the Deep Sea Squadron is formed by Drama, Gray, and the latter's family. Maverick and Magnum join the party. Gray discusses her past with her family. Quarter's remaining agents ambush Gray at her apartment and kidnap her family. Levi is captured and mind-raped by Illudere's Black-Mercy-With-A-Different-Name, triggering the readers. Echo sets out to hunt.
Day 21: Echo finds Levi hidden at the Golden Bell Performing Arts Center, and she is subsequently rescued. Gray renders the kidnappers' ultimatum null and void with a challenge of her own. The kidnappers and kidnapped deal with the challenge in their own ways. Gray learns that not all changelings are aggressive monsters. Limefrost almost gets mugged.
Day 22: The city learns of Leviathan's sorry state and the cause of it. Gilbert starts organizing a get-together. Fiver teaches Calico how to play FreeCell.
Day 23: The get-together takes place at Median Park. Pure Energy escapes from Illudere. Levi, with Drama and Shining Armor providing major assists, outlasts said illusionist shortly thereafter and re-claims her stolen equipment. Pinkie Pie is Pinkie Pie. Zig-Zag gains his Cutie Mark. Bushwhacker discovers the secret of changeling metamorphosis. Calico is rattled.
Day 24: Leviathan reaches an epiphany about her family's legacy and claims Manehattan as her protectorate until a way of returning home is discovered.
Day 25: Cocoa Mocha's memorial takes place. Quarter puts the coup on hold, citing the need to perfect their secret weapon and put the protagonists down for good. Cadance provides part of Startide's story to Leviathan in a letter.
Always a good idea to refresh everyone's minds. With how long it's been, it's easy to forget some things that happen.
Now, I can tell that the image you're waiting for isn't done yet. And I also know that could take a while. I know. The cover for my story, Children of the Sun was drawn by a fan and given to me to use. It took them some time to work on it, over a week I believe. So if you were still doing your deadline, this could be where you would have dropped it.
