Going back to the ophthalmologist · 5:42pm Nov 25th, 2023
I had hoped the dry-eye I was experiencing was just allergies, or an abrasion, but my eye has begun to become red again. I wake up, and my vision in that eye is so foggy that I can barely see myself in the mirror. after an hour or two its back to normal. It aches as if there's an abrasion, but unlike before it actually waters and isn't dry all the time.
There is a chance that this is just a bad case of conjunctivitis but I do not want a repeat of shingles and that white hole in my vision. or my vision to get worse. Unfortunately their office is presently closed (weekends) so I gotta hold out until they come back to the office.
Noticed I have a rash spreading across my lower eyelid and down my cheek. My shingles as returned.
Ouch, but I wholeheartedly agree - especially if the vision gets cloudy something is obviously quite not-ok.
I assume you got your blood-sure levels checked (and that they were where they should be) and unless your eye-doctor was a complete hack they checked for all the other obvious things. Still, if things get worse consider trying to get an emergency appointment instead of waiting for monday (though this comes from someone living in a western European country where getting healthcare might mean wasting a few hours of your own time, but won't ruin you financially)
Hope thins work out okay. You have been writing about having eye problems for a while, so hopefully a proper appointment will help.

yeah, had a blood test. everything was normal. I eat and exercise regularly.
The problem with shingles is that you can relapse if its not completely knocked off its feet, and it never really goes away entirely. it just goes dormant again.

I know, it is one of those life-long companions that might go hiding, but will never really go away (recently herpes simplex paid me another visit after a few years of peace - but that one is fortunately only a minor annoyance in most of the cases)
Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll soon get a clear diagnosis and good treatment that quickly take care of things.

There is a chance that this isn't singles,, its possible its conjunctivitis and an abrasion. I saw this because its not like when I had shingles in my eye. It only hurts in one tiny area of my eye, and its not bone-dry like it was when the zoster virus came and poked me in the face. My vision's also cloudy rather than having any freaky after-images.
but the ophthalmologist who handled my shingles outbreak is pretty knowledgeable. I trust him more than my optometrist (who tried to send me on a wiild goose chase that would have cost me thousands. when I asked him why he didn't send me to the ophthalmologist next door, he said "oh, he's not part of (my state) health.")
EDIT: SCRATCH THAT.
I found the outbreak. I have a new shingles rash starting on my eyelid.
