So a big influence on my writing is music. I think I've got a pretty diverse library so I thought I'd post some of the stuff I like and when I listen to it.
Maximum the Hormone - Zetsubou Billy
Whew MtH is a Japanese metal band and their stuff is pretty insane imo. Usually listen to for combat scenes, aggression, stuff like that.
Luhan - Medals
Luhan is a Chinese pop singer. This song is just so inspirational to me. The lyrics really hit hard and make me feel like I can get through anything.
Wintergatan - Sommarfågel
Wintergatan is a Swedish electronica band. Their music is beautiful and generally performed with unconventional instruments. It usually just makes me feel like I'm in another world so when I just want to write some mellow stuff I listen to them.
Utada Hikaru - Simple and Clean
Utada is a Japanese-American singer who honestly has a wonderful voice. This is one of my more preferred romance songs, so obviously when I'm writing lovey-dovey parts I listen to her music.
Shakira feat: Alejandro Sanz - La Tortura
Shakira is a Colombian pop singer and her stuff is just 🔥. Again more romance stuff, though this is a lot more confrontational and angry. Love it.
Blooming is... well like I said all of my stories are heavily influenced by music I listen to. What about you? Does anything influence your stories? What are some bands or songs you like?
Same. I even made a dedicated playlist that accompanies what I am currently writing, but it might be at least another month until I will slap it in my own blogs. 😒
...
Anyway, here goes.

I am unfamiliar with every one of those songs. So I'll give them a listen!

Goodness gracious I can FEEL Chrysalis in these songs.
And In Darkness May She Reign is literally making me feel nauseous.

She's currently rapidly closing into Tear You Apart territory, since songs are in vague chronological order.
Glad you appreciated the effort
Back in the day I used to game in silence, usually accompanied only by in-game audio… that is until I realized I liked music, and that’s when I created my favorite music playlist on yt. It got out of control, no longer is it a piece of binary stuck to my account, now it’s an extension of my oneself, ever growing, unstoppable and as chaotic as a tempest. Music no longer satisfies it wholly, and it begun expanding into other media, its ravenous consumption only increasing. I can’t stop it, it grew exponentially ever since it was created, and now… it won’t stop. Only the death of the host will put an end to the cancer.
Or, alternatively, the playlist is too big to be my real playlist since it has over 350 songs and stuff like that, which means I have to listen to filler a lot of the time (even though that filler is good. Not sure if it’s even worth creating a second more accurate playlist.)
I should prob link it here too, it’s public anyway.
the blob expands.
The playlist is a combo of every little thing I like, so it’s competitively random.

I thought you were exaggerating. Didn't believe you. Then I looked at it.

My honest reaction to a new music video that I like (My playlist is about to experience a lag increase of about 0.175%)
I am back and forth on this question. At times, it seems like music can "feed the bug" and set the right tone for thinking about or working on a piece; other times, it serves as distraction and identification, and gives away energy. It depends. When I am beginning a first draft I find music helpful. But once I have begun I find there's something in silence that contains the seed of what I am striving for, and I try and stay with that. I never have music on when I am actually writing.

When I was blind I had enough of darkness and silence. Even when I go to sleep now I have either music on or ASMR. Darkness and silence are my enemies.
5756647
Geez.
Why were you blind, if you don't mind my asking?
5756649
My left eye has always been bad. It took a bad turn and then I got like a really bad cataract in my right that needed surgery but didn't have the money. I had to wait about 8 months before I could get it.
5756651
That's remarkable. You must have been so distraught not knowing what was going to happen. What was it like to see again?
5756653
I cried obviously. Was like being alive again after dying. Darkness is terrifying.
Fun fact my love for MLP and fanfictions came back because of going blind. I listened to a lot of Scribbler's readings when I couldn't see.

Makes sense. It's an extremely visually appealing show. Lush environments with bright colors and characters with detailed facial expressions and body language.
This kind of went in a different direction. Anyway, I'm happy you have your sight but I still find it distracting to write with music on!
5756670
Oh yeah, thanks, of course. Nice convo. So you're not listening to music, right? So you're writing Dupes, right?
RIGHT?!
5756672
Sorry man, I quit. The numbers don't lie. And they say: "YOU'RE WEIRD-BAD." So I gave up. It was a stupid story, anyway.
5756722
You don't actually think that, do you?
