With my quest/race to get a Rainbow S on all of Freedom Planet 2's stages, my creativity lit up like a bonfire again, and I started crafting an alternate ending of sorts for the past week.
That story is now complete, and posted in its entirety over on AO3.
5744100 Sonic X wouldn't have looked like anything under Penders. He would have tried to sue for ownership of the characters and then the show would have gotten cancelled early.
I respectfully disagree. He wouldn't have been in a position to sue for the characters if he hadn't done over 100 issues of Archie Sonic. Granted, that was a lawsuit he should never have been able to win, his writing had too much teen melodrama in it for its own good, he did some questionable things with echidna lore, and he presented us with overly humanoid eyesores of character designs by the end of his run (hence my earlier quip before). But you can't just pretend that suing Archie Sonic to death was his only involvement in Sonic.
5744108 To this day, I am still absolutely dumbfounded that Penders won that case.
And I think Sega was too, that's why they made all those ludicrously draconian rules about what characters can do/what emotions they can show from then on.
Don't touch the plant buddy
Tails: "I will vaporize him, even if he has one-hundred rings on his person!"
Cosmo: "No need for such brutality, my dear."
(The child in a man's body get whacked on the head by a vine from behind with enough force to knock him out cold)
Cosmo: "Now, we go for Wendy's."

Frosty time.
You forgot the arson and the jaywalking.
So this is what Sonic X would look like by Ken Penders.

I think you mean Knuckles X.
That's what Penders would have made.

*Looks up the Ken Penders case*
What a trainwreck.

Maybe not, but it's what he'll be remembered for above all else.
