Unveiling an OC: Empathy · 7:55pm Aug 26th, 2023

I have a new piece of artwork. It's in my profile picture at the moment, but here it is, bigger and probably with a better resoution.

This was done pretty quickly, so I didn't really do much shading. Really I wanted to experiment with the idea of having cutie marks in the backgrounds of my pony drawings.

This cute little bat-winged horse goes by the name Empathy Morningstar. ~~(Let's see if anyone gets the music reference. If you get it, put it in the comments but make sure you cover up your answer.)~~ Little Empathy's a bit of a character foil to my beloved OC Moonlight. Where Moonlight happens to land in trouble, Empathy goes looking for it. Where Moonlight sees her destiny as uncertain, Empathy knows exactly what she's doing and what her cutie mark is all about. Other ponies have said it looks like a very simplified maple leaf caught in the breeze, with a pink crystal on it for some reason, but Empathy thinks she knows better.

Are their paths likely to cross in any of my stories? Well... timelines are complicated. In the Shadows and Stars storyline, the misadventures of Empathy happen somewhere in the third major arc, Sunlight's Millennium. (I'm pretty sure I accidentally put "millennia" in a few places but I'll correct it if I find it.) I've got plenty of other stuff to write first, but I just thought I'd share her design since I like sharing my little doodles.
