The Voice in the Water

Listen to the crashing of the waves, the flow of a stream, the roar of a waterfall, or the patter of the rain.

    I should have known better

New indie animated series by GLITCH. Trailer here:

Considering that it's GLITCH, I'm surprised that I'm surprised by what was in that, but here we are. Hopefully its as good as Muder Drones and Digital Circus (which, while not the greatest things ever, are still solid compared to the stuff coming out of Hollywierd).

First Natuili spotted by EV Nautilus

Watch as deep sea researchers nerd out over externally shelled cephalopods! (I get that excited when I run into rare or cool plants, so I can pretty reasonably say that kind of reaction isn't scripted).

    Just some random gamer ramblings

So, I was beating my head against a wall in Lies of P, and got to thinking: what would I want if I made Splintered Sky into a game. Obviously, there's a lot of different routes it could go, but something that really stuck with me was "wouldn't it be interesting to try to make an EVE style game out of the setting." So, I got to thinking "how could I make something like that and make it

    Monster Hunter Wilds

Sooooo, the MH Wilds beta is going on. And I've been playing it. And I'm afraid that if I buy the game, its going to be the only thing I play for a long time. Just like what happened when I picked up MH World. Yes, it's that good.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to make myself do something else besides pummel balahara.

    Versus (by One)

So, something that I have generally come to loath in contemporary storytelling is the very obnoxious trope of "sUbvOOrtinG tHi Aubiense exPertaCHuns dur hur hur I aRe seww cLEBbER" ["clever author" takes another drink of lead paint]. There's a single author that I've read that actually makes it work, and that's One, the creator of One Punch Man and Mob Psycho 100.

*Voice suddenly starts talking from the beverage you're about to start drinking*

HEY! You know what?! I feel like listing off movies I like because I'm going stir crazy, and feel like thinking about something that makes me happy as opposed to thinking about the current state of cinema, which makes me want to pour concrete into this water!

So, in no particular order, here are a bunch of movies that I genuinely enjoy.

Predator 2
The Last Unicorn
Gojira
Godzilla vs. Biolante
The Terminator
Home Alone
Labyrinth
The Hobbit (Rankin Bass version)
Lord of the Rings (Peter Jackson version)
Tremors
Transformers: The Movie
Wizards
Alien / Aliens
Gandahar, the Light Years
Akira
Mermaid's Scar
Arcadia of my Youth
Project A-ko
The Guyver
Mothra
Hakaider
Halloween (original and Rob Zombie versions)
Hellraiser
Cutie Honey (2004)
Mazinger Z: Infinity
Devilman (OVAs)
Shin Godzilla
M3gan
Uzumaki (not as good as the manga, but still enjoyable)
Dagon
The Call of Cthulhu (H.P.Lovecraft society silent movie)
Duck Soup (Marx Brothers)
The Godfather
Amadeus
Godzilla: Final Wars
Total Recall
Pitch Black
Batman: Mask of the Phantasom
Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
Star Wars (Eps. 4-6)
Seven
Krull
Men in Black

I'm sure I could come up with more, but that's what I've got off the top of my head. Bye!

I will never tire of Transformers the Movie. I cried as a child when Iron Hide got executed.

It was incidentally my introduction to G1, so I actually grew up with Rodimus as my first Prime.
