Man, is it just me, or have things been quiet lately?

Maybe it’s just me, because I’ve got my head down, keys pounding away at Axtara – Magic and Mayhem with anticipation of getting the first draft wrapped up. I’d guess that I’m in the final third now, since it’s sitting at 90,000 words. As a draft, this will probably come out longer than the first book, but I’m not sure how much will be cut in editing. There are a few early chapters that … Well, you know what? I’ll let the Alphas decide that. For now, it’s sitting at 90,000 words, stuff has well and truly happened, and our protagonist is trying to figure out what to do next.

What’s gone on in our favorite dragon banker’s life? Well, I’m not spoiling that. But I will say there have been some absolutely delightful interactions between herself and Princess Mia as a result. Their friendship is getting a good showing here.

But is there other news? Well, not really. About the most noteworthy detail next to Magic and Mayhem‘s continued progress is that the 4th of July Sale seems to have worked out, with the entire UNSEC trilogy picking up an array of new 5-star ratings … Though Axtara – Banking and Finance has picked up a few news ones as well, so she’s not lagging far behind.

But things do feel quiet, oddly enough. There’s the clacking of the keys as I write another chapter, the sounds of music playing from my speakers to keep my mind greased … and that’s about it.

Not much of a news post, I know, but sometimes that’s just how it is.

Oh, and before I forget: If there’s a writing topic you’d like to see Being a Better Writer discuss, the call for topics for the new list is open. Head on over and leave a request!

And well, yeah, that really is it! See you all Monday!

Everyone's just weathering the heat and dreading the coming school year.

I gotta say, Mia and Axtara had great chemistry. Looking forward to it.

It's not really quiet, it's just that God has mashed his finger down on the fast forward button.
