Steak, asparagus, potatoes, corn, and cake.
And two movies.
Eager to see what everyone thinks is the better coming-of-age film.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess Turning Red. It's an absolute crime that they pulled this from theatrical release due to Omicron. It's an awesome story. Don't get me wrong, Ruby Gillman is a good tale too, and I love her character design, but the story was just flat-out predictable.
Tsk...sounds like...an awesome watch party!!! Have fun!
My parent's anniversary is one Sunday and I am planning on baking a cake for the day as well. We might watch the Incredibles 1 and 2 or something else that we all have at the top of our ever-increasing favorite movies list. LOL!
While it sadly looks like Gillman's fading into obscurity, it's nice to see that more and more people are starting to appreciate Turning Red, especially after the internet's... bizarre, (I guess) reaction to it.
Turning red is a great film. I actually never saw any really critical reaction to it. Perhaps it's just because I live in China though and is out of most of the international (non-political) drama.
But seriously, as a young Chinese, I actually find the Chinese culture references in there quite fascinating and fun to watch, with a great approach to the topic that lots of people don't like to talk about. (you can certainly tell what it is when watching it~)
And Ruby Gillman? I'veā¦never heard of any sort of promotion to that one before, except people who watched it giving an opinion.
Predictable story is fine, sometimes we just want to hear our favorite tale tell differently. And I've heard that the movie Elemental was criticized as too cliche or something.
But I find most of movies like those fun to watch, the visuals are still pretty cool, I guess.
That'll be a nice party ^_^
