On whereabouts and what is to come

Some of you may have received notifications - I don't really know how the system works - but even if not, here's the general announcement to explain it all:

    I'm finished.

    Adventures in homeownership

This week, I had installed a new air conditioner, me furnace, which followed on the heels of working through two outfits to secure financing, shelled out $200 for a new smart thermostat, still have to call the city to schedule an inspection for the work, have to call a plumber because the toilet is leaking again, and I still will never go back to renting of I have anything to say

    It occurred to me

Or maybe it's all imaginary, but doesn't the boss music for Corneria in the original Star Fox sound like a mash-up between Super Metroid and F-Zero?

Space Cats Saga: Things to say so they stop bothering me · 8:20pm Jul 9th, 2023

If you're confused, see the previous blog: I'm not recapping anything.

I finally figured out why Space Cats Saga 2.0 seems so long: Because it is.

Classic Doom has 27 levels; 9 per episode (counting secret levels).

So far, I have finished 58 levels in SCS; which is to say, I just finished the second episode. Each episode, so far, has more levels than all of Classic Doom. Some of these levels are short (one is like E1M1 speedrun short), but many of them are very long, particularly the ones that are functionally arenas (at least three of these have more than 1,200 monsters to deal with).

I'm still having fun with it, but man, I just can't play this game like I used to when I was 30.

ETA:
Also, I figured out why the soundtrack sometimes felt familiar; because it is. One level, I found myself thinking, "Hey, wait, is this Mega Man?" The one immediately following confirmed it: "This sounds like... this is the Brinstar jungle."
