What a chapter.

It doesn’t matter if you read it in Bifröst-mode or normal-mode, give yourself a pat on the back for making it all the way through this. I think we packed a little bit of everything into this chapter. She’s been in all the wrong places at the wrong time. King Sombra’s return, Cozy Glow’s takeover attempt, and even finding Earth a little earlier than almost anypony else.

I suppose I should ~~do the addressing of~~ address an unresolved plot point from this chapter. Bifröst makes it a point to mention the search for Flitter & Cloudchaser, but we never actually see them get rescued. We know that they do, however, since they’re the ponies she runs into at Cheesecake Factory back in Lulu Luck’s chapter. They’ve obviously made it to Earth, so we know they’re okay.

Maybe we’ll even find out what happened to them at some point. I wonder if that’s an important plot point or something that’s been alluded to in earlier chapters.

Nah, it probably isn’t. Continuity isn’t important. Right?

I didn’t name Bifröst, nor does she have an official name. The fandom chose this name for her. So with a name like that, it screams of some sort of connection between our worlds in centuries past, hence why I’ve woven in some Norse mythology.

I’m not an expert on the subject and welcome corrections if I got anything wrong. One of the most time-consuming parts of the writing process is research. There are a lot of characters, with their own interests, backgrounds, and personalities. This is the eighteenth pony we’ve had a chapter from in first pony perspective. That requires doing research so you don’t end up with eighteen characters that all happen to like exactly the same things I do.

The written sources and the archaeological record indicate that in Old Norse religious practice the sacrifice of animals, particularly pigs and horses, played a significant part in the blót. More than just a simple sacrifice, the blót was central to all the ritual activities that took place in Norse sacral structures. Closer in conception to a gift, the blót usually involved killing animals, and sometimes humans, in ritual fashion with their blood being poured into bowls or onto stones.

Now I’m not implying that they may have also sacrificed ponies but… it would certainly explain why the portal was abandoned. As for Ragnarök, I can’t think of any ponies with the power to bring that around. Ponies that could use the sun to scorch the Earth to crisp. Nope, not at all.

Here we see the Bifröst’s part in School Raze. Yona clings to her before falling through the clouds, then as the other students start falling she heroically saves Night View.

This is referenced in story because it’s pretty much the only thing of significance she did in the entire series. She joined the cast in season eight as a background student at the School of Friendship, and at no point in the series did she ever have so much as a line of dialogue.

Despite that, she seems to be one of the most popular background students, no doubt due to her rainbow-colored accessories that make her stand out from the herd. What is it with pegasi getting cute hair accessories? Flitter, Cozy Glow, Bifröst, etc. I’m not saying this is blatantly obvious or anything, but…

I think the banner should be a singular ‘pegasus’ instead of a plural ‘pegasi’. That said, I can't help but notice that a lot of my favorite ponies are included.

“Oh, that was belonging to my previous roommate.” I did the nervous chuckling. “So, do you remember when your twin sister did the coming to town?”
She did the nodding.
“And you remember how you hadn’t ever mentioned Bumblesweet’s existence to me until that point?”
She did the nodding again, slower.

Did I mention I’m in the process of expanding Honeybuzz’s chapter? This alludes to a scene where Bumblesweet shows up at the School of Friendship. Considering the bee twins have a tumultuous relationship, you can be assured there will be hijinks when this gets published!

I intend to have all of the expansions of Act I done before moving on to Act II, and I only need to finish Cherry Pie & Honeybuzz, while I haven’t even started on Daisy Dreams. The rest are done, though I still need to post blogs for Rainbow Flash & Plumsweet.

The good news is that the story won’t be going on hiatus while I finish expanding Act I. We still have two more Act I bonus chapters to go, including one that’s my tribute to MLP’s 40^th anniversary.
