Tell Your Tale: I've Seen Fire and I've Seen Rain (Bows) · 12:29pm Jun 15th, 2023

Warning: Make Your Mark Chapter 4 Spoilers Ahead!

This week, Sunny and her friends can't really be trusted with accurate recounting of events.

But seriously, props to Hasbro for the flawless timing of episodes this generation.

Instead of, you know, giving out season finale spoilers two months early in EqG and giving us Christmas episodes in May.

Yeah. The stories do have their inaccuracies as were pointed out by the other characters (though I COULD see Opaline using that Racoonicorn for target practice after getting enough of her power back), but it was still an entertaining short.

This was a decent episode, but I can’t help but feel like this was a missed opportunity for some self-deprecation, à la The ember island players. Especially since Missing the Mark already parodied chapter 2’s finale.

So basically, this is the Mane 5 "telling their tale" about their encounter with Opaline, complete with all the inconsistencies from Make Your Mark (embellishments, getting things out of order, details being off) that we've come to expect from Tell Your Tale. This has to be the most meta episode of TYT yet. Look, they even had to remind Izzy that there were no donuts at Opaline's Castle.

So did Misty have the post-cutie mark dye job at the end of Missing the Mark? Because that is a different mane color (which in hindsight I'm pretty sure was spoiled by new toys).

No, I think this was the first appearance of it. I figure she'll have the new mane in Chapter 5.

Good to see the spin off series not be an afterthought like in Gen 4.

Well, it might seriously take the driver's seat.

According to Hasbro's presentation, only TYT has been slated for 2024. MYM is slated to finish airing its ordered episodes by the end of 2023 with Secrets of Starlight. Nothing has been confirmed for 2024, MYM-wise.

Hasbro clearly sees TYT as the more successful series, and I'm like "duh?"

Make Your Mark requires a subscription to a streaming service, and goes months between chapters.

Tell Your Tale is free on YouTube, and has never gone more than a month without a new episode.

It's also slated to get some 22-minute episodes in Season 2 (2024).
