The Vulture's Coinflip

I saved making a blog for this particular story, because I did want to dwell on my thoughts and feelings about the fic before I said anything. And if you know me, then you know that I have a lot I could say. Today, I think it’s best to just take comfort in the work.

Apparently my writing as of late has taken a bit of a turn in the direction of ‘mystique’, but it’s not exactly quite that; there’s just a lot of details I’ve implemented that go unexamined, because I’ve left that to you. So, after some reflection, I think I’ll keep it that way... but in this case, only for the more subtle parts of the story. Some things are only meant to be felt, but there’s plenty that can be said.

I will say that I am quite clearly fond of writing sisters: I really enjoyed writing Scootaloo (and Applebloom in Perdition). It’s only a matter of time before I get struck with the motivation to write a story for Sweetie Belle. I’ve honestly kept my distance around them for all the time I’ve been writing, but now I’m starting to really see the possible stories I can tell with them. I feel it’s a natural fit, too, that I’d give some attention to a trio of fillies who have always struggled to be given their due time.

This is a story about—and for—Scootaloo. But at its roots, The Vulture’s Coinflip is about the chances we have in life... and just how unique and important to our character the connections we form really are.
