Poll: Which "Adventures in Equestria" Set Should I Work On Next? · 5:57pm May 11th, 2023
In all the free time I don't actually have, I've been tinkering with more ideas for "Adventures in Equestria" fan-made sets. I have so many good ideas, in fact, that I don't actually know what to work on next!
Here's the current candidates:
Nightmare (K)Nights
Theme: It's Nightmare Night in Ponyville again... but this time, the villains have come to the party, for some reason?
Playable Characters: Between 4-6 popular villains, including Nightmare Moon, Queen Chrysalis, and Lord Tirek. Don't think about the lore implications, just enjoy the ride.
Unique Features:
- Villains have extremely powerful abilities on their character cards, but require a lot of effort to "ready" them again. Think of it more of an "Ultimate Ability" than a "Once-Per-Turn Bonus"
- Everypony gets to dress up! "Costume" cards are low-powered persistent cards that grant extra keywords and free resources (e.g., Rainbow Dash's Shadowbolt costume grants the "Wonderbolt" keyword, plus one free Move resource per turn).
- Perhaps: Costume Contest cards are shuffled into the Adventure deck, which grant bonuses to ponies with certain types of Costumes when they appear.
Wonderbolts Academy
Theme: The Wonderbolts are trying to put on a show to wow the masses... but behind the scenes, things are in chaos! Will they ever be able to pull this one off?
Playable Characters: Spitfire and Soarin', possibly more
Unique Features:
- Expands on the use of the "Wonderbolts" keyword, adding a lot more cards to interact with it.
- Adds an alternate "Stunt Show" win condition. Several special "Stunt" cards are shuffled into the Adventure deck, which must be completed before they fall off the end of the Adventure Row. Completing a Stunt grants a table-wide bonus and brings the team closer to victory, but failing it has steep penalties. No matter what else is happening, the show must go on!
The Time-Traveller's Wife
Theme: Ditzy "Muffins" Hooves, née Doo, had a rough childhood, being called all sorts of awful nicknames. But now she has an awesome family, who work together to save the day!
Playable Characters: Derpy Hooves / Ditzy Doo / "Muffins", Time Turner / "Dr. Whooves"
Unique Features:
- Cards will focus on the extended fanon family of "Derpy Hooves," including daughters Amethyst and Dinky Doo, "Dr. Whooves" and his longtime friend Roseluck, and Derpy's semi-estranged sister, Daring Do.
- A number of cards will allow players to interact with their own Discard piles (Dr. Whooves ain't got a time machine for nothin', amirite?)
- Perhaps: will draw plot points from the time-travel-heavy MLP Manga storyline?
I threw together another poll to see what y'all think. This one's a lot lower-key than my Minecraft survey, fortunately

Hmm, those are all pretty nifty ideas! I think the villain one would be particularly neat.
Dang I am torn between the Time-Traveler's Wife and the Nightmare (K)Nights. But I do feel more of a lean to the Time Traveler's wife ide more. Though it could just be my Doctor Who fan creeping back out again.
