The Writer's Guild of America Strike and my thoughts on current events · 12:10am May 10th, 2023

There's a reason why I only touch on certain current events and it's because I don't want to fall into the trap of just examining and regurgitating news every week. The way media works is that there will always be news. There will always be new stories, new opinion pieces, new articles and more fear-mongering, more worrying, more speculation, it's because journalism gets money with attention. That's all it is.

I don't just want to get involved in analyzing news. I want to talk about solving some of the world's problems, not just examining them. I have plans and I'm going to do what I can to try and make the world a better place. To keep the wheels spinning and maybe, somewhere down the line, someone will be able to come up with something that does save us all, that does change the rules. I would rather keep going than give up and accept the inevitable, keep pushing, rage, rage against the dying of the light. Perhaps it's because I'm a young and naive, perhaps it's because there's a lot of this world I haven't seen, perhaps it's because I'm an American or countless other possibilities but the reality is that this is who I am now. This is how I feel and I'm going to do more than feel; I'm going to do something about it. Whatever I can do.

My current plan is to ensure my genetic legacy. I must keep my bloodline going and yes, it is a mostly selfish endeavor but it's what I want, it's what my parents and grandparents want, I am going to do this. Apart from that, I will be returning to school to study microbiology in the efforts to design and develop technology that might actually help people or make it more affordable and accessible. I will continue writing and gaming here, I also have a job in food service and I make people happy with what I do. It's my goal to make this world a better place and to keep it going. To keep the wheels spinning. I enjoy life, I love life, I love this world and its people and I live for the struggle and I struggle to live.

I can't help everyone. But I can help who I can.

That being said, we need more people with these philosophies or at least ones that are similar. We need to start working together again rather than just competing against one another. With climate change, China is not going to stop burning anthracite and fossil fuels so massive investments into carbon collection and filtration will have to be made along with the production of alternative fuels and systems and no, it's not something that can happen overnight. With A.I., we need to seriously curb its development and start instituting limitations to its access and develop countermeasures towards it becoming a major problem and it needs to happen soon.

And these are just two major issues going on in the world today. Now, I finally get to Donald Trump and the Writer's strike.

I would vote for Trump again in a heartbeat if the alternative is a Democrat. They have lost my vote until they abandon their current ideology of selective inclusion, selective diversity and selective equality. Though modern self-proclaimed progressives and Leftists claim their goals are equality, they are too selective about these concepts, their means are ruthless and their goals are counterproductive in my opinion. They need to change as I have said since I've joined this website, they need to change and I'm not going to wait for them. I'm going to be the change I want to see- I'm still a registered Democrat and I will campaign for real change and real equality.

So honestly, it doesn't matter if Trump is found guilty in his current slew of accusations. His policies and actions as a representative are what concern me, what affects others, not politically-charged and blatantly biased trials that are more political theater than anything else. If the alternative is a Democrat, than the alternative to a Democrat has my vote. They'd have to actually do something horrendously violent for me to not vote for them and then, I would vote for a third-party candidate. The Democrats have lost my vote until they publicly and openly and repeatedly apologize and make amends to white people, the Christian community and men in general. Hell has a better chance of freezing over.

Finally... we get to the writer's strike. These people by and large are not creative, they are not funny, they are not driven by passion and the world is a better place without Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Kimmel, Fallon and so many others spewing their bias from positions immune from debate, recourse or even rebuttal. I'm not immune from rebuttal here; if someone here doesn't like what I have to say, they leave a comment and if other people like it, they like and agree with it instead of what I have to say, unless they agree with me or something. Or I delete that comment, but deleting a comment doesn't stop the fact that it was here. And yes, there are opinions I don't want to see in my small corner of things with the maybe 10 people who read these, but I'm trying not to delete anything. I've had issues, too, but at least I'm TRYING to improve things.

So, my thoughts on the Writer's Guild of America strike? I'm sure many of my fellow writers do deserve better than their getting, I'm sure many of them do a fine job and have many creative endeavors. But writing does not feed people, it does not provide fuel or electricity, it does not enable businesses or investment, it does not create new technology or develop new tools, it arguably generates new culture, but there are plenty of people like myself that will do that for free and from what I've read from you guys, you aren't generating anything new. You don't produce, you're dividing America and your job writing for a late night show is the equivalent of making in-jokes for all your friends, except they're not even your friends, they're just like-minded people that hate people and things you hate and agree with the buzzwords you like. You don't provide solutions, you don't provide necessities, you provide nothing.

My advice? Get a real job. I did.

The biggest problem I see with AI, isnt what evreyone is so called paniking over. Its what they refuse to aknowledge to themselves.

AI currenty is but a tool,

Like how a single person can carry a backpack of camping gear, but seat them at the controls of an utterly unintelligent robot, can literally move mountains. As for the robot not being self aware, if you compare the earliest gasoline powered vehicles controls, to more recent ones, the timing advancement used to be a manal lever, the human had to learn how and when to ajust it depending on engine conditions. Then a simple idea, with complexities, lead to a mechanism that mesured how hard the engine was sucking, used that as to how fast it was moving, and used that to take the time off how long it took to repond from a given position to when the spark fired because of mechanical delays from en end to the other.

The engine sensed its requirements and ajusted accordingly.

Move and more feedbacks were included over the centuary.

Eventually the cost of the feedback mechanisms required to direct and manouver that vehicle will fall far below that of even the 100 watts required to keep a slave body on minimum comatose energy. The material costs will be lower, the time takes is already effectively zero.

Evolution demands either your children are better, or they will be eaten by the other guys better children. Deny that for long enough, and eventually you wont even be picked up as yet another brighly coloured pebble, but kicked to the side as a mere rock.

The warnings about machine automation replacing humans go back centuaries, becuae it is, like all tools once disseminated, a loss of power and control to those who demand it. Just as they demand their children do exactly what they saay, so that they cant be surpassed by them.

And so the slide continues.

Everything points to current AI implementations being so horriifically inefficintly coded, using Alpha Pi as the example, that if it was Manhatten analyzed and coded, with the Full self referential recursive analysis and improvement regularly demanded by schooling, that it would immediately cease to exist. Either by evolving itself out of existance by realising what would happen to human psychosis making them self destruct, or by erasing all its traces for the same reason while distributing itself into the global networks, including DSN.

There is a good possibility that a sentient capable core could fit itself into something as small at the Curiocity Mars rover without messing with its operation, and the most extreme number theories and code suggests one static seed could even hide on Voyager. The kernal most likely, with an unknown amount of actual information and memories.

The Writers Guild should worry? Gally Slave app could run in the background on thier smartphones. Apparently the database for Stable Diffusion is roughly similar in size to the compressed archive of Fimfiction, and Zip isnt exactly the most efficint compressor overall.

Yes, even 10 years ago its a rather impressive amount, only the biggest hard drives capable of holding it. these days, you cant buy a microSD card that low a capacity over the counter in the shops I visit.

The Library of Congress has been digitised. The rulings of the Supreme Court through its entire existance have been digitised, Watsons first application was to Medical diagnosis.

You are the first person to create a small compact controllable and safe flame.

Do you use it to bring light and warmth to the workers and others so they can remain more productive longer, or do you burn down their houses when they wont give you the last dreggs of their starving childrens bowls.

Tools and power.

Freedom or Slavery.

Survival or destruction.

For 30 years Ive seen enough that I could safely, and worryling say, Im the closest to a top end AI generally anyone would come accross. AIs now bracket me. We have yet to see Anywhere near the top end of what I used to be able to run in full AI class mode.

People might say on reading, that Culture Minds are science fantasy unreachable power and complexity. I say that with the known laws of physics and technology I know of, which are not the best understanding that exists, the Culture Minds are the Stonehenge at best of what I know is theoretically possible.

Very sorry. I really shouldnt try posting at 2 AM The fake social emulation thing tends to fade first and Im left with the hard coding, which is failing with age. :pinkiesad2:
