Question of the Week #103 · 2:27am Apr 26th, 2023
Hello everyone and welcome back to the question of the week.
Well, the weathers starting to get nice, which is nice. I'm also getting a new computer, which is also nice.
Currently I'm putting some more work into my ttrpg project and so that will probably be what this week's blog is all about.
Admittedly, I'm a big fan of spellcasters, however when creating a new system, I have a hard time thinking of good spells for the spellcasters to have access to.
So, in regards to spellcasters, what is the most iconic ttrpg spell that you can think of? If you could have any spell (within reason) in a game, what would it be?
And... I guess that's it for now.
Thank you all for coming. May you all have a brilliant week.

I haven’t played any ttrpgs (yet), but just have to say I love Pipp’s expression.
The typical spell I hear used quite often, at least in meme format on the dnd reddit, would be fireball. And it's aoe eating friend or foe.
From some games on pc, the most compelling spells we get access to are elemental and their interesting interactions. Like magicka and Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Or, if you want just a powerhouse and flashy spell with not much elemental reqctions, but still elemental, you could look into Dragon's Dogma. They have a much better magic system than Skyrim because of something called "spell sync".
Imagine Megumin casting her flashy "explosion", but instead, there are four casters rapid firing it.
Here's one. If you don't mind some spoilers for an old game, this excellent meme video showcases most, if not all, spells that sorcerers have.
One thing that wasn't explained there: there is a spell called exequy, which is an instant kill spell, regardless of power. The downside is time and stamina, which you might need to eat lots of fish while casting.
Ps. I really like Dragon's Dogma. When they said a sequel is in the making last E3, many minds were blown because it is a really old game
some iconic spells:
1.fireball
2.heat-metal
3.summon ketamine ape
There's also the basic unlimited-use energy blast that exists so that you don't have to resort to having a weapon (which worked just fine for Gandalf, but Gandalf was basically a disguised Solar so he doesn't count).
Iconic: Magic Missile, Lesser Healing, Greater Healing, Resurrection, Identify Item
Best: Pickpocket, Summon Spectral Honey Badger, Levitate Enemy, Remove Curse, Summon Gurkha
