Map of the Bellenastian Valley · 12:35am Apr 21st, 2023
Little blue apocalypse horse's adventure now comes with 100% more map! Courtesy of... that's right, me!
Here it is, in all its blinding, eraser-smudgy glory!
Solid lines are rivers, dotted lines are roads and highways (not the paved kind, mind you) All the big dots are towns, villages, hamlets, and in the eponymous case, the Dunn Kingdom's Capital, Bellenast.
It ain't too fancy, but I'm proud of it, darn it. I made that map.
Some important notes:
While I reference locations on the official map, I don't adhere strictly to its exact layout or scale. I envision the Equestrian continent, whatever it is called, to be about the size of Africa, and broader across than it is presented in the official map. The San Palomino Desert, for example, is much larger and located farther to the south in my version, and the entire Bellenastian Valley couldn't exist on that map without some shuffling around of key locales, notably the area south of the Macintosh Hills (The Mysterious South on the G4 Movie map) and around the Forest of Leota, a location shown in a couple place in the MLP comics. Additionally, there is a significant distance (1500-2000km) between the eastern edge of the Bellenastian Valley and the Badlands.
At the eastern edge of the Badlands lies the mountain range, deep within which you would find Cloud Loft Peak, Crystal's erstwhile home, and to the east of that, the Hayseed Swamps and the coast of the Celestial Sea.
I'll make a new blog about it if I add any more substantial details, but everything critical is there.
Have you made a map lately, for a story you've written, or for someone else's story? You should. It's surprisingly fun. Make sure you can support your drawing surface at a good angle in front of you, though; looking down constantly for any length of time will be a very real pain in the neck.
