Howdy, folks. It's been a busy set of months, but I am loving how much you guys are digging the Ultimate Spiders and Magic saga. We are five episodes in, and we have some goodies in store. First, we actually have developed a TVtropes page once again! I appreciate the love and if you guys want to contribute to it, here's a link! Ultimate Spiders and Magic: TvTropes
Second, as I work on Episode VI: Smoke and Mirrors, I am here to announce that a side-yet-canonical tale will begin. Ultimate Spiders and Magic: Loser Brigade Chronicles. They are the bottom of the barrel in terms of the social ladder at Canterlot Hight. You have the dork, the loudmouth, the angry outcast, the klutz, the dry one, and the class clown. While Peter is doing his Spidey work, what are his friends doing behind the scenes? Soon, we'll find out as every character is explored and expanded upon.
Third, with a set foundation of five episodes, I'd love to hear your inputs. What episodes did you like, love, hate, or didn't care for? What characters do you enjoy? How do you feel about some portrayals? Anything you'd like to see changed? Any characters you want to see introduced? Please share your thoughts!
To be truthful I know it is the old Parker Luck but you really need to catch that boy a serious break. He knows Dr. Strange it would be interesting to see if Peter’s luck could be improved. He has his friends but so few know the truth and he needs a victory, something Jameson and Diamond Tiara can’t whine about.
I love this series. It's really good.. But. I want to see Peter/Spider-Man to confront the Mane 4 (Not including Sunset or Sci-Twi Or Fluttershy) The Mane 4 have been hating on both of them for too long and it's getting slightly annoying. Other then that I love it
Like how the series turning out so far. Although I do feel like some episodes went by too quickly and left out some missed opportunities and much that could've been expanded on with an additional chapter or two, Episode IV seemed to have just the right acceptable amount out of the lot. Other than that, so far so good.
I think the hate towards Spider-Man from the Rainbooms has to end at some point. Rainbow will likely be the most stubborn to admit that she was wrong about him considering how her poor excuse of a plan went with Man-Spider which I'm sure one of the confirmed future episodes will resolve. If there is an adaption of Camp Everfree, this would be a chance for Sci-Twi to rethink her behaviour towards Peter and reflect on her hypocritical views on Spider-Man as a menace considering she herself become one herself as Midnight. Maybe even allow Spider-Man and all of the Rainbooms to work together.
And I'm curious how you will develop Peter's relationship with Fluttershy as one of his potential love interests among Sunset and Trixie and how it might create some conflicts. So far, Sunset and Trixie have shown some form of attraction to Peter but neither of them at this point know he's Spider-Man while Fluttershy has interacted with Peter in costume but not out of costume and has only just figured out his secret identity leaving her being the only one of the Rainbooms in the know. So I wonder how will Fluttershy be able to handle interacting with Peter out of costume and how her friends will react to it. Also, I'd like to know if Peter would by any chance meet her brother, Zephyr Breeze.
Alright so...
Personally, I've always loved the idea of Spider-Man x Equestria Girls alot as a concept, sometimes more than just regular MLP, as I feel like its more of a natural fit for the character of Spider-Man and the world of EG.
And I do like the set-up for this one so far... however I still feel like there's some more to go before it FULLY sells it to me.
Now it's obvious that this version of Spider-Man is heavily inspired by both the MCU and Insomniac version. Which works, but it does seem like those are like the go-tos when it comes to these types of stories. Would be nice to see a story thats inspired by like, the 90s show maybe? Which is what I consider the classic Spidey-era after Ditko's time. But still, just a personal preference
Now as for portrayals... they're kinda mixed:
Spidey is still learning. But I do wish he would ease up a little. I get that he's a teenager, but he seems a bit "pent-up" and anguished most of the time. And not giving people a chance to know him, unless he wears the mask. Then again, maybe thats intentional? And maybe the mask will eventually help him grow out of his shell... still a bit early to tell...
Sunset is... a weird one to me. Like, she was seemingly set-up to be his love interest, maybe? But I feel like lately it's been kind of dropped. But she's also kind of confusing as a character to me. Does she like Peter or not? Does she like Peter's other friends? I feel like Aria said it the best when she gave her that reality check... And because of this... that has lead to my personal favorite character in this to take the role of "if I could ship this Peter with anyone, it would be her":
Fluttershy
I LOVE how she's the only one who's actually a fan of Spider-Man and yet never really judged Peter in any negative way either. And I love how she can reason that despite his looks, Spidey isn't a bad guy through her extended knowledge on ACTUAL spiders. As someone who supports spiders myself, it makes me smile seeing someone being so relatable. And then she even gets to show her surprising bravery by being the one to save/cure Spidey of his monstorous mutation. And lets not forget the most important part...
Unlike Sunset, Trixie or even Twilight "smarty pants" Sparkle, SHE ACTUALLY FIGURED OUT THAT PETER AND SPIDEY IS ONE AND THE SAME! And unlike Aria, she didn't have any magic in doing so, she just put the two and two together... how can she NOT be best girl?
Which at this point, sorry Sunset, but Fluttershy has me sold personally. Now I dunno if thats what its gonna lead up to, but I definitely wouldn't mind if it did...
...as for the other Mane6...
its honestly surprising how they've been written to be even more dislikable than any villain Spidey has faced so far. ESPECIALLY Rainbow and Rarity. Like... good god. I will give AJ and Pinkie a bit of break considering they've mostly stayed neutral. But just like Sunset, they haven't actually opposed any ridiculous claims or ideas Rares or RD has stated...
Rarity judges Spidey solely cause of spiders... and if Blueblood is anything to go by, she might also be a gold digger... and Rainbow... I know she's cocky and arrogant but good god. What can I say that hasn't been stated by almost everyone already? She hates Spidey solely cause of jealousy and prejudice, and hates Peter cause... I guess he said the wrong words? And that he's a dork? When even Twilight herself tells them all to chill with Spidey, does she listen? Heck no! And her hatred has now lead her and her friends to serious danger... and we all cheered for it! Literally everyone was looking forward to them getting god knows what kind of punishment from Man-Spider... I hope later stories will finally redeem them and I'm sure it will... its just gonna be an annoying wait...
Oh yeah and of course, Twilight. I'm gonna be real, I am so glad to finally see a Spidey x MLP story thats NOT setting up Peter and Twilight cause while it makes sense with their characters... its getting a bit cliché now. I've seen it now, several times actually. But this Twilight... jeez... very uhm... antagonistic towards Peter huh? Yeah... she basically falls into the same category as Rares and RD for me...
Some other characters I personally like are Flash Thompson and Otto Octavius. Flash being the ever-loving Spidey fanboy yet bane of Peter's school life, he's still the same. And despite 80% of all the population being against Spidey during his mutation, he still stood by him. And he helped Fluttershy and Spidey with getting their little night they deserved. And now we've been given some hints to why he constantly targets Peter, and hopefully this will be more touched upon and maybe develop into a genuine friendship between these two again.
And Otto, being the kind and generous mentor figure who's excited over the prospect of his pupil being Spidey and goes to the deepest pits of hell to help him in anyway he can. I love him... which is gonna make it so much more tragic in the future cause of his inevitable transformation into you-know-who, and when that happens, I want a massive heart wrecking confrontation between him and Spidey, just like the video game...
Speaking of, one of my biggest complains so far is the lack of any actual Spider-Man villains. Let's see:
1: Vulture... kind of... as in it wasn't actually Adrian Toomes, but Spitfire, who eventually redeemed herself anyway. And we do have a conformation that Toomes does indeed exist in this universe... We also have Norman Osborn so we have some things we can look forward to in the future
2: The sirens, as in it was an adaptation of Rainbow Rocks
3: Juggernaut, an X-Men villain... sure he has fought Spidey before but still. Weird that he's the first true Marvel villain.
4: Midnight Sparkle, again, adaptation. And also Eddie Brock which really excites me cause I love Venom...
5: and here we have our first true Spidey villain, Kraven! Well... kind of. Considering he was more of an anti-hero/villain. But at least we have conformation that he isn't good and he will be back to fight Spidey
so part 6 having Mysterio is gonna be interesting... even if it isn't Quentin Beck tho...
But yeah, I guess thats all I have to say for now. Sorry if I seem too nitpicky, but I love the concept for these stories and think that it can lead up to some even greater stories in the future. We're still very early so I hope some of these points gets taken into consideration. And I'm definitely looking forward to the continuation of this! Good luck with the writing!

Appreciate your honesty. Yes, I understand that everyone's feelings towards the Rainbooms are mixed. My idea was to ground them and make them more flawed in comparison to their pony counterparts due to the hybrid flow of the MCU and EQG verses. Now the animosity between them and Spidey WILL end through a slow burn, some sooner than others. Plus, I get how it may feel that some episodes went by too fast. I'm personally still getting used to the formula of these bite-sized episodes. Also, I love the idea of Shy's brother!

Pete's misery is just getting started. (Yet, it's no different from the Ultimate comics. Remember that the entire ten year run was technically only a YEAR for Peter?
Our boy has indeed had it rough. Yet, it's for good reason. Remember that OG S&M Pete was so beloved while young Ultimate Pete has it tough. Time-wise, the first five episodes have taken only the course of a month!

Thanks for the feedback. With Pete, you mentioned Ditko, and he's meant to be a mixture of Ditko, Spectacular, MCU, and Insomniac. That bitterness and anguish? Ripped right out of Ditko. Look back at classic Ditko, and Pete was kind of a dick and treading on borderline supervillain behavior with his monologues. He wasn't NEARLY as nice as the character we know today. Plus, he's undergone a LOT in a short amount of time: moving to a new school and city, having Nick Fury shadow his every movement, being surrounded by an overly positive lot, being public enemy number one, and dealing with all of the hormonal teenage angst at the same time. We still see Pete being the nice guy by the end of the day, but he has every right to feel a certain type of way.
As for the others, I have plans for them. Glad you like Shy's portrayal. And Sunset is meant to be a complicated case. It's actually going to get far more complicated in the coming episodes.
In regards to the villains, this is a hybrid universe. We have to establish Marvel, Spidey, AND EQG villains. If I just pull Spidey villains right from the gate, I'm missing out on endless potential. Of course the classics are coming like Mysterio, Shocker, Rhino, and etc. Some will have twists like Toomes (Vulture), but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

He is hit or miss depending on who writes him. In the show I didn't care for him. In other fics. He was written as a character that I could care for

He is a slacker by nature and has pursued different careers in his life but none of them panned out well for him so he is constantly living and leaving his parents place. He is really into Rainbow Dash and every time he see's her he flirts with her to no avail. He doesn't have many appearance and when he does appearances and when he does it's much the same as his first appearance. Since he isn't used much. He, like many background-ish characters can be molded into what suits the story best. This is where my hit/miss feelings for him come from.

He’s like the leech Like that funny cutoff scene from ultimate spider man show where Spidey imagines himself as a leech.
Ironically he puts effort to avoid work rather than using that effort to actually work.

Okay 1 I guess I like Episodes one and two

I won’t say hate but did not enjoy ep 3 as a big shot character like wolverine appearing so early felt rushed. But I respect that you added an Easter egg from an x men game.
An episode I didn’t care for would be ep 5 as it left some unanswered questions about peters evolution who he accelerated rather than his other parallel counterparts. You wrote kraven well I’ll give you points for that and I liked your ending. And where was eris?

I sometimes see trixie as Peters foil to his school like his own Ned, or Liz
4 I am impressed at your original idea to portray Aria a normal supporter for Peters inner circle. Though I wonder with how negative peter can be wouldn’t he overfeed her?
I would like to see twilight admit her own mistakes…in the man spider incident complain to peter didn’t exactly help at all in the man spider incident. I now realize that twilight’s group has gotten way over their heads since none have fighting experience, they can only use powers when together or doing their talent, or with instruments. None of which can automatically help out in a high stakes battle
And they don’t have their geodes yet for powers.
I kinda want to see Eddie Brock’s good side before his decent into petty jealousy. He blamed spider man for a mistake Eddie himself caused when he accused the wrong man as the sin eater when Peter’s close friend Jean De Wolfe died.
5: finally as for Characters
For villains I wouldn’t mind seeing molten man, miles warren working with chrysalis, the hob goblin, tombstone, perhaps the enforcers since there a great classic from spidey’s original years.
Supporting characters: I would like to see sugarcoat again. And Jean dewolffe, maybe microchips and coco pommel
Maybe the young six could appear as Anthro mutants created from spider man’s enemy the high evolutionary in mount wyndagore from Spidey unlimited and guardians vol 3.

me gusta mucha esta historia, debo admitir que comencé con esta primero que con la original de Spiders and magic que creaste, me gusta como va el rumbo de la historia y como se desarrolla.
pero si hay algo que no me gusta es Rainbow Dash la siento muy molesta y grosera.

So far I liked all of your work but the last one well I enjoyed It but since I'm not that much of a fan on horror or the Man-Spider I guess It wasn't my cup of tea but It was interesting to see It after such a looong time I saw It on any Spider related thingy I came across.
What characters do you enjoy?
Aria has been really fun to see and Dr. Octavius too...makes me afraid when you decide to make him go supervillain since I feel It'll go the Marvel Spider-Man PS4-PS5 game way but man with a portrayal that good It would be sooo awesome

Peter reminds me of the early Ditko-Lee era which is pretty good since character development will allow for a lot, and the Rainbooms I know you want to portray them as more flawed which is pretty good since well I guess Hasbro and being limited to movies and specials unlike FiM didn't allow to show all of their personalites they are way to on edge with Pete, except for Fluttershy and Applejack how is willing to give him a chance or at least be respectful, and yes Peter's behavior doesn't help but for the heroes and nicest people on school...they can be real jerks...looking at you Rainbow Dash

I'll probably get some flak for this but Starlight Glimmer, if you want to use a human version of her that's fine by me I just would love to see my favorite character and I don't know if you thought of this the human Sunset Shimmer, I'm still upset we never got more than just a confirmation that she existed so It would be interesting to see your take on that
oh and out of curiosity are the Loser Brigade Chronicles gonna show the girls thoughts on Peter...if you know what I mean

Before I rant, I just want to say that I love the series despite what im about to complain about.
You say you are trying to make the Rainbooms more grounded and flawed. What I noticed though, is that they only act like that towards Peter. To everyone else they act the same as in the movies.
Twilight nearly destroyed the entire universe? All is forgiven the same instant, besties now!
Peter made a dumb comment due to panic? Hate him forever!
If you’re going to portray them as more flawed, then do so. Don’t have it ONLY come into effect when it involves Peter because that just makes it look like you said it as an excuse.
At least give Peter a chance to apologize if anything.
So I just recently started reading this series and I love how you divided things into episodes.
That said others have more or less criticize the same things I have a problem with which is mainly how the girls act towards Peter. I get it that you want to go slow but I hope that in future episodes you have Peter spend some time with the other girls and bond with them.
Applejack: Her family helps out at the shelter from time to time.
Rarity? Well I would say he has to tutor her or something since Sunset and Twilight are busy with other things.
As for what I hope/would like to see in the future:
Peter out for Revenge:
-It could on Flint Marko - the Spiderman movie Sandman. Jonan or Diamond could reveal the fact that it was Flint that killed Ben as I kind of want to see how others would react to that news.
-If not Flint for Uncle Ben, it could be for his parents or Aunt May.
Spider City:
-People of Canterlot could be finding themselves with spider powers, with Peter, SHIELD and the Rainbooms having to deal with it all.
Spiderverse:
-Peter meeting other Spiderpeople that aren't other versions of him. Like Gwen Stacy, Miles and Flash (the version that killed his Peter).
Rainbooms Blackmailed:
-Mainly Rainbow, I can see her using her powers in the open which draws the attention of HYDRA who kidnap her parents and blackmail her, plus her friends, to capture Spider-man.
