    A Personal One: Continued

At the time of writing this blog post, it is the 2nd of April, at 9 o'clock in the morning.

I am in a hospital, sat alone in an empty room, while my husband Phoenix is undergoing surgery on the floor above me. He was so nervous, having never had surgery before, the poor lad has only had about 2 hours of sleep.
I couldn't be more proud of him for his bravery and his spirit.

    A Personal One

    To my dear readers,
Good day to you, and I hope you are well.

2023 is coming to a close, and boy what a year it's been...
Though I don't know your own experiences this year, mine have certainly been wild; from losing my Google Account & YouTube channel by way of a bot hack, to developing flu-induced pneumonia and almost dying, my 2023 has been utterly mental. 😵

    Rebranding

Hello you lovely lot, Callum here!

So, for many years now, I've gone by the alias of Old Man Dusters.
It was a nickname given to me by my mother when I was about 4 years old.
It's been my online persona and brand for over a decade! 😮

Well, for those that follow me on YouTube, you'll have noticed that the channel is gone.

Firebird, and My Life - Explained

    My dear readers,

It's been a while since I uploaded a blog, but after uploading Firebird parts 1 & 2, I decided it was a good time to explain a little more about my life and my situation, which hopefully elucidates as to why my chapters take so long to write and upload.

So, since the 9th of November, I've been happily married for FIVE years, quite the milestone.

The Titans' Orb Remaster Progress · 12:04am Dec 17th, 2022

(Edited: 17th of April, 2024)

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to update you on the progress of the original TTO's remaster.
I'll continually edit this blog post as significant changes are made.

[1]
Zecora's healing gel, previously known as Kuphila Amanzi, is now called Oozima.
I changed the name because after some research, I found that Zecora's native tongue is Swahili.
Originally, I had chosen Zulu, in which Kuphila Amanzi is roughly translated to Life Water.
Uzima is roughly the Swahili word for "Life-Giving", which coincides well with gel and its purpose.
Due to the nature of the substance being an ooze, Oozima seemed like a fitting play on words.
Its new name and meaning is better addressed in Chapter Nine: Sweet Stuff.

[2]
I have recreated the cover image art for ALL THREE stories.
Although I've never thought them bad images, I've always wanted to make them better.

[3]
Chapter 9 - "Lil' Miss Stressy Pants" has been renamed to "Never Play Leapfrog"

This is a nod to the saying 'Never play Leapfrog with a unicorn.'
The original title felt immature and lacking of any wit, nor meaning, other than to address the chapter's context, which is the growing tension between Callum and Twilight.
The new title achieves the same goal, while being wittier in the process.

[4]
Chapter 10 - "Booking a Flight, Egghead Style" has shortened to "Booking a Flight"

The original was long-winded and unnecessary.

[5]
Chapter 13 - "Are We There Yet?" has been renamed to "For Flying Out Loud"

This is a play on the term "for crying out loud".
Since re-writing this chapter, there is much more sentiment, tears, and heartfelt dialogue; so this change feels right.

[6]
Originally, in Chapter Sixteen, Callum commits his first murder.
The scene was unexpected, uncharacteristic, sloppy, and a downright bastardisation of character.
It was so bad that I lost a ton of readers and I received hate-mail for it. 😬
In the Remastered Edition, this scene has been moved to Chapter Fourteen, and has been completely rewritten in every regard, changing the context entirely, and adding a much more realistic hue to what was originally a very bad scene.

[7]
Chapter 15 - "I Don't Bite... Much" has been renamed to "On The Shy"

This chapter took a great deal of rewriting, in which I completely overhauled the implied connection between Fluttershy and her 'crush'.
There is now a much bigger story to be told here, with more salacious details.
With Fluttershy's promiscuous truth being kept hidden from the others, the new chapter title felt more appropriate, with it being of course, a play on the term 'on the sly'.

[8]
A major antagonist in the story was Ingeo Montenegro, the Butcher of Brazil.
However, one thing I never noticed for years, was that his name was a typo! :rainbowlaugh:
I'm a huge fan of The Princess Bride, and had intended for the villain to be named Inigo Montenegro, after the legendary Spaniard swordsman from the movie, Inigo Montoya.
I have since remedied this mistake, and corrected every utterance of his name to Inigo, not Ingeo.

[9]
Chapter 16 - "Rio Grande" has been renamed to "The Pursuit"

A simple change, but since this chapter no longer takes place in Rio, it made sense to change this one, especially as the latter half of the chapter is focused on Inigo's men hunting Twilight's Company.

[10]
Chapter 17 - "Mission: Very Unlikely" has been renamed to "The Bogeyman"

The original was a nod to 'Mission: Impossible', focused on Callum's plan to escape the cartel.
Wanting to put more focus on Inigo, I found 'The Bogeyman' to be a more fitting title.

[11]
Chapter 18 - "The Plot" has been renamed to "I Predict a Riot"

This is of course, a nod to the popular song 'I Predict a Riot' by the Kaiser Chiefs.

[12]
Chapter 21 - "There and Back Again" has been renamed to "Lest Not Abhor"

A new dream sequence has been added to this chapter, and the new title refers to it.

[13]
Chapter 22 - "Homebound" has been renamed to "Homeward Bound"

A simple change, but it felt right. :twilightsheepish:

[14]
Chapter 24 - "That's Your Funeral" has been renamed to "A Dash of Trauma"

The funeral scene has been removed entirely, with the focus now being more on the relationship between Callum & Oliver, along with Rainbow Dash's PTSD-induced anxiety attack.

[15]
"Chapter 25 - "Friendship is Emotional" has been renamed to "Science and Progress"

With the interaction between Callum and his old friends removed, it felt better to focus on Oliver's wacky 'mad scientist' endeavours. The name also refers to a line in the Coldplay song 'The Scientist', which was coincidentally sung in the previous chapter to calm Rainbow from her anxiety attack.

[16]
Chapter 26 - "Wasteland Survival Guide" has been renamed to "The Dead City"

In the original story, I had done very little research on the Chernobyl disaster. As an avid Fallout fan, I had envisioned the place being similar to the game's nuclear wasteland. You can imagine my surprise upon educating myself and finding that the city is heavily overgrown and abundant with life. 😆
As such, I've changed the title despite the enjoyable Fallout reference, as it provided the false notion about the locale. The new title is now layered and foreboding, as it initially alludes to the city simply being devoid of life, only for the sudden reveal that it is occupied by the irradiated undead.

[17]
Chapter 27 - "Does This Look Infected to You?" has been renamed to "A Dance With The Deceased"

With a more fearful approach to the zombies (later named zomrads), than the original chapter, it was more fitting to repurpose the following chapter's title to here. The 'dance' aspect is now more appropriate, as it features Callum, Rainbow Dash and Twilight 'dancing' across the city to avoid zomrads and mutants.

[18]
"Chapter 28 - "Dancing With The Dead" has been renamed to "Nuclear Nightmares"

With the introduction of Hawnu Rey'eng via the dream sequence being more fleshed out, I wanted to put more focus on it, and so 'Nuclear Nightmares' felt like the perfect title for this chapter.

[19]
This story originally started with Callum at age 16, he meets the ponies in mid-June 2014.
I have since aged him up by one year, his story begins at age 17, in mid-June 2015.
Why? Because it just felt right to do so, 'nuff said. :derpytongue2:

[20]
I've corrected one of the biggest grammatical errors across the board, which lay within the title itself.
The Orb at the centre of this story was made by the Titans... PLURAL!
And yet it's always been written as the Titan's orb, implying there was only a single Titan.
The series' title, along with all relevant dialogue, has now moved that pesky apostrophe to where it belongs.
The story at long last now has the grammatically correct title of The Titans' Orb.

Those are all the major changes for now, but I'm still working on this, persistently writing away and recreating this fable of mine into a well-made, fresh experience for readers new and old.
As of the 17th of April 2024, I'm up to Chapter Twenty-Nine.
Only one more to go!!! 😁

That's all for now!
Much love!
- Callum

what Chapter nine? do you mean Sweet Stuff, Of Muses, Misery, and Magic, or Far Out. Callum? of did you mean Chapter Nineteen?

I'm referring to "Sweet Stuff" in the first book in the series. As of now, I'm only remastering the first Titans' Orb story, as it's what needs the most care after nearly ten years of developing my writing skill.
I might touch up Rising Storm later on, but I'm going to stick with what needs the most attention for now.
