This story is a sequel to Equestria At War: The Death of Harmony

Rose Thorn and Ember Flash have been sent to the front lines of the war between the Socialist Republic of New Mareland and the Kingdom of Wingbardy. Live in waterlogged dugouts, count themselves to sleep by the rhythm of shellfire, hope everypony will be alive at roll call the next morning. Or if not, that they'll be the lucky ones. That's their life now, at least until they become too deaf to stay at the front.

A spinoff fic of Equestria At War: The Death of Harmony showing a trenchpony's-eye-view of one of the secondary conflicts in that story. As with The Death of Harmony, takes place in the Equestria At War alternate universe.

On a visit to the Crystal Empire, Twilight Sparkle pieces together clues and evidence to paint an unmistakable conclusion: her so-called friend Rarity has somehow seduced her brother Shining Armour into betraying his beloved wife.
