The next chapter is coming along nicely, maybe a week away. Its going smoother than the last one, but will be much longer. Which is why it will probably take about the same time to release. I've gotten a lot of constructive criticism in the last chapter about my overuse of internal monologue and while it will probably take a while for my writing to get dialed in, I hope that the next chapter is an improvement.

Pretty self-explanatory. I created the name CrimsonR4ge years ago as my Xbox gamertag. While it worked well as a gamertag, I don't really feel that it suits me anymore as a writer.

So I've changed it to CrimsonS4ge. A minor alteration for now. Maybe one day I'll expand it to something like "The Crimson Sage", but I thought that might be too big a change all at once.

I know that I said that the new chapter would only be ready by the end of the weekend, but over the past few days, I went on an absolute WRITING BLITZ and got the chapter done in record time. It's also the longest chapter that I have written by a fair margin. I've completely finished writing it and have sent it away to my beta-readers to look over. After I get it back and make the final edits, it'll go live. Likely within the next day or two. SUPRISE!!!

I took a small two week hiatus from writing to focus on other things like my university application and helping to take care of my elderly grandparents. But even though I wasn't writing, it gave me plenty of time to plan out the next chapter in my mind. This has allowed me to hit the ground running now that I'm putting pen to paper, with minimal writer's-block. Just today I've written 800 words of the new chapter and will probably reach 1000 before the end of the night.

The next chapter will be an Interlude. It will take place from the POV of a Royal Guard at the Everfree castle, who will have a front row view of the events there. I know a lot of people are very excited for a Celestia POV, but I believe that a certain level of ambiguity regarding her motivations are required for what I have planned later in the story.

It's been a while since my last update. Over the past few weeks a had hit a massive writer's block wall that made progress on my story slow down quite a bit. I've luckily managed to move past that in the past few days and I'm filling out the chapter at a much better better rate now. Hopefully I'll publish it by next weekend.

So I've been thinking. One of the biggest criticisms I've received about my story is the lore dumps. As I've been writing the next chapter I've noticed that I've had to actively restrain myself from going into too many tangents. All of it I WANT to write about, but those tangents are not very important to the story and probably won't be well received by people who don't want to read tangent after tangent. It feels wrong to me though, to leave stuff unexplained.

I've had a very hectic end of year. Between finishing my online courses, visiting family and preparing for my new job, I've had little time for much else. Things will be settling down for me soon and I'll have more time dedicate to writing. Sorry about the delays.
