Dedicated lore chapters · 6:17pm Jan 20th, 2023
So I've been thinking. One of the biggest criticisms I've received about my story is the lore dumps. As I've been writing the next chapter I've noticed that I've had to actively restrain myself from going into too many tangents. All of it I WANT to write about, but those tangents are not very important to the story and probably won't be well received by people who don't want to read tangent after tangent. It feels wrong to me though, to leave stuff unexplained.
So my solution is to write "Lore Interlude" chapters.
I'll have Luna touch on any backstory that the readers NEED to know and have her fully explain any critically important lore details in the main chapters. Then I'll go into more detail about minor lore and world building in the Lore Interlude chapters.
People who dont want to read deep lore don't have to, it's freely available to anyone that does what to know more about the world that I'm building and I can write as much detail as I want without having to worry about bloating the main chapters with unnecessary detail.
These Lore Interlude chapters won't replace any "Alternative POV" Interlude chapters, nor will they be included after EVERY main story chapter. I'll sprinkle them in as necessary.
PS. The next chapter is coming along nicely. Shouldn't be too long now.
Lore, you say...?
Good to hear that you figured out the lore problem. I’m excited to see what comes next.
Hmm yummy lore. Maybe it should be formatted as a diary entry or something?

I thought about doing it as a diary entry, but it would be really clunky trying to justify Luna writing down a lore dump of topics that she should be intimately familiar with while trying to relate it to her current experiences. It'll probably take the form of a sort of codex entry, where I just tell you everything you need to know.
It's not meant to be fancy, it's just a place for me to put all of the ideas and lore that I couldn't fit into the main story.
I might get creative with it later and retroactively reformat the Lore Interludes, but for now the content is more important than the presentation.
The story's contents have been very enjoyable as they've been, and I'm sure they'll continue to be intriguing with your new method. :)
All I hope is that you enjoy writing the chapters in this new way.
