Sunset Shimmer lives in the human world. She has six absolutely wonderful friends and a purposeful life as a defender against dark magic.

And yet she wonders to herself, what would have happened if she had never left her homeland of Equestria? What would be different?

She never thought she'd actually get a chance to find out.

A lot of time has passed since the last time Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends have had to overtake evil. Without any threats, it's finally time to settle down.

As the ponies go about their lives, Twilight can't help but notice that things are changing. Young ones are growing, long-time goals are being fulfilled, and some ponies are starting to see each other in a new light. Twilight finds herself adjusting to these changes quietly and alone... or she would be alone, were it not for a certain sun-emblazoned book. Twilight is soon to find herself going through the motions as well.
