Endings Suck: A roundabout schedule update · 4:41am Aug 21st, 2017

So.
I've been wondering how to write this blog post for the better part of four weeks. I liked the idea of a longer post working out feelings, or musing about the nature of grief, or sharing an experience with a rejected Simpsons couch gag* that became eerily relevant not twelve hours later. I might still do one of those things, but for now there's no way other way to say it than to say it.

My father passed away last month. To the day, in fact.

*too many horsewords noises* D: D: D: · 5:25am Mar 10th, 2017

Six pages into the paper draft and I can already tell chapter 22* is going to be a monster. The first scene’s not even close to over and we still have two more major scenes and at least one minor scene to go and most of those major ones are gonna be like nine pages minimum.

Not Dead! New Chapter! Upcoming News! Exclamation Point!!!! · 4:53pm Jan 13th, 2017

Hello, gentle readers!

I know it's been quiet on my end for a while. Finals and my last year of school ate up a lot of time, and on top of that chapter 19 is massive in several senses of the word. Too massive to stuff in one 15k chapter (less for word count, more because all the things happen at once) so I'm pulling a split while I continue working on the typed draft of second half.

Welp. My laptop's S key has officially bitten the dust.
Kind of a problem when your main character's name is Silver Spoon.

(S6 E23 spoilers) In Which Patch Does Not Cry Over Spilled Milk Even A Little · 6:34pm Oct 8th, 2016

Okay, first things first: Mr. Filthy Rich.
I think we all need to take a moment and appreciate how Filthy Rich is adorable and a sweetheart and generally the best and I love him.
Like.

Look at this pony, people. :D Look at him.

What PatchworkPoltergeist Learned This Week, or: A Schedule Update Worded Longer Than Necessary · 3:43am Jul 22nd, 2016

First things first: Unless a miracle or a frighteningly unhealthy caffeine high happens, a July update for Silver Standard isn't gonna be a thing. My rough estimate for the upload is the week of August 7th, probably. If it's longer, I'll tell you, but judging from where I stand now, it shouldn't be later than that.

When the Comment Box is Full, the Dead Authors Shall Walk the Earth · 3:56am Jul 1st, 2016

The best part of writing an online serial work is that comments give me the opportunity to see reactions as they come and interact with readers in a way that’s more intimate than, say, publishing a printed work and reading responses on Twitter. This feels especially in the realm of fanfiction, because there the playing field feels…level. Even if admiration or skill or prestige or whatever tips the scales one way or another, in the end we're all just fans of silly magic talking horses.
