Author's Note:

My editor and I will do our best to make sure that reading the previous story, A Near Miss is merely supplementary, but not necessary to understanding this story. If something just flat-out doesn't make sense, please let me know in the comments. I won't give away future plot, but I will do my best to remove any other confusion.

Near Miss, Long Shot and Spleens had set up their caravan at one of Canterlot's large public parks, and were sitting around having sandwiches when a scroll telepoofed into existence and nailed Long Shot in the face, knocking her onto her back. After she got up, Long opened the scroll with one of her wings and briefly read it before announcing, "It's for you," and passing it to Near. Slightly confused as to why somepony would magically aim a letter meant for her at Long Shot, Near took the letter into her unicorn magic and began to read:

To the blue and pink unicorn who gave Starlight that weird stick thing she just smacked Trixie with,

Since you were able to find that obscure thing for Starlight, Trixie would like you to find something for Trixie; it is a magic wand said to be capable of the greatest of illusions, supposedly once owned by the great Hoofdini himself. It was last seen in Gallifrey Gorge. If you can retrieve it for Trixie, there will be payment.

Signed,
The Great and Powerful Trixie

After she finished reading, Near tossed the letter into the caravan before saying, "It looks like Starlight Glimmer's friend wants us to go to Gallifrey Gorge to find something for her."

Between bites of her third sandwich, and still with her mouth full, Long Shot said, "Why would we want to do that?"

"Because Trixie is offering to pay us to." Near answered.

"Good enough for me," replied Long, and when they looked at Spleens, she shrugged her shoulders in agreement.
