WWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!! WHY DID YOU KILL OFF TWO OF THE RAINBOOMS WWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY?!
I'm about ready to give up on this story.

Well, it is a horror story, can't play favorites too much! Plus one of my inspirations for this tale was the writer Headless Rainbow so I've actually been pretty conservative with the death toll of important characters. Only Moondancer, Shining Armor, Rainbow, and Rarity are actually dead; even Tirek is still alive albeit helpless
That said I might bring them back in a sense; Somnambula's locusts are collecting bodies to turn into her army, although it will be a while before I can follow that up.

How are they going to save anyone now? If those two are dead, no rainbow power.
Also i don;t see Cadence ever forgiving Luna after what she been thru, with the well you know done to her.
Even if she does forgive her, it be A LONG time, and if Luna changed back how much is she going to beat herself up over what she done, hope she goes into self exile after this.
Last question which I'm terrified to ask, but how many more times will adagio and Aira get scot free? Each time they escape they wind up making things worst, and when sems they finally get what coming to them they escape.
I don't see Sunset getting Adagio in the next chapter you write her getting away and hurting kill more.

I know it's natural to make things bleak and tragic so that we want to see them prevail in the end, but by this point a good chunk of the main characters are dead and/or corrupted beyond saving and it feels like they're just going to stay that way with no means of being (properly) brought back or restored.

Never intended to resolve the conflict with Rainbow Power; didn't do so with this story's prequel either, as I've always hated that angle in the show. Almost didn't even use the geodes but decided they would be okay since their enemies have super powers and are willing to use deadly weapons, so the power balance was more evened out rather than power of friendship curbstomping easily.
Cadance recognizes Luna isn't really herself. She'll likely forgive but not forget. Mental scars will likely always be there, assuming she makes it out alive.
As for Adagio/Aria, I do have something big happening to them next chapter, although it might infuriate you! One thing that's been consistent throughout the last story and this one is that they're just clever enough to constantly screw themselves over, and barely escape; it's kind of a dark running joke for me. They also serve as wildcards like Chrysalis since they're potential thorns to everyone. And admittedly they're the most fun characters for me to write in this series!

Without giving everything away, some things may be able to be reversed...at a price. Don't worry, no plans for a kill em all ending. I'm open to suggestions from fans to improve the tale!

That last bit is what gets to me. I can get you enjoy writing them, but with what they done now. I really want to see them taken down once and for all.
Them killing Rainbow was bad enough but what they did next and how Aira shoved that well thru Rarity...makes me furious! I really want to see Aria and adagio taken down brutally hard.
I still get what you said about Cadence, but come on not right in the head not good enough excuse. Thou I agree with the mental scars, and will add to Luna's guilt and Celestia's as well. She came to talk and get some form of comfort and look what happened.

What I've tried to show was how embracing their vamp nature has made them increasingly psychotic; it could happen to anyone turned, but Tree Hugger is the polar opposite as she's chill and in tune with her docile side.
What I plan to explore next is whether the Dazzlings have fallen so far into becoming monsters that can they ever possibly bounce back? I've tried to add a bit more gray rather than just a good vs evil tale of bad people getting punished, as I feel that's too straight forward.
Cadance is characterized as fairy tale princess pure in this tale, which is one reason nightmare moon torments her so much; she sees her own failings when looking at her. Luna's only real sin was not being mentally strong enough to resist the darkness, which could have happened to nearly all the cast. Sunset has an advantage in that she's almost fallen to evil twice before.
