I like what you did with Rarity. And ho, boy. I sense massive trouble when she sees her father.
An interesting alternate universe this is shaping up to be...
I'm getting flashbacks to Innsmouth.
Let the passive-aggressive verbal conflict commence!
...good save, Miss Totally-Not-A-Fugitive...
Now my good sir, do you really think that was wise?
Thought not.
Well, I am really loving the High Fantasy themes. Looking forward to seeing Alchemy in MLP (Hoping that's something G5 goes for)
Mixed feelings about Rarity though.
I mean, it's not a bad idea you have about her new character, it's just that she lacks something that makes the characters in the show stand out.
A hobby. An interest. A calling.
She's a spoiled but ultimately well-meaning heiress here, which is fine, and the lack of her trademark interest in fashion is to be expected but if it's not really replaced with anything, then there's just something empty in her.
Just something to keep in mind. Maybe I'm jumping the gun.

While Rarity may seem that way now, she gets better. Don't worry.
I have lots of plans for her. You will see some in future chapters already.
So at this point Rarity is like the one in the show. Yeah, she's a little uptight, but not mean spirited. Just the way she talks to Lotus in this one line shows that which I imagine is relatively rare in this version of Equestria seeing the description of the story says the unity between the three tribes is no longer a thing, and it seems that Unicorns seem to be the dominant race so far.
Definitely in a society with a dominant race or class. I don't see Rarity's family as evil in any way despite owning servants which appear to just be glorified slaves, for the reason that it's clearly a society that has it as it's foundation, it reminds me a little about slavery in the US. Some black people who got set free would end up becoming slave owner's themselves and enslaving their own family to protect them, or in the rare cases where slave owners would ask their slaves if they wanted something from the market with an allowance on how much they could spend for them. They only kept them as slaves because there was no incentive to have them freed or make them employees, but they were also deinstivised due to just how society was back then.
BTW where is Shining Armor in this universe?
Ah, there's that inner bitch we all know and love from Rarity.
Something tells me that AJ does not like unicorns.
Damn these two are already grating at each other as they did in the show!
I guess that's one way to smooth things out
Close one, careful Twilight.
Hey come on dude no need to be like that.
So far I like Rarity in this story, as well as AJ, and Twilight, so far this is a pretty good story I'll continue.
