Doing what's right is not always possible when you live in the ravaged wastelands of Equestria, and one mare knows that well. But, as fate would have it, she may just be the key to saving the world—or destroying it.
The sharp scraping sounded once again. It tore apart my eardrums and sent shudder upon shudder down my spine as I focused my eyes on the opposite wall unfalteringly. Pebbles tumbled down determinedly, snapping at my hooves as they rolled to a stop. And then more came, and more and more in showers of dust.
"And more. And more. Andmoreandmoreandmoreandmoreandmore."
8846394 I can respect the eleventy-fuckoffilion word count, and I what the author tried to do, but what did she really do? She combined Fallout and Ponies poorly, missed what made FNV, 1, and 2 better than 3, and turned the whole story into a massive grimderp exercise in autofellatio, complete with "And then after the amazingly-moral murderhobo party of Littlepip And Friends defeated two armies in a single day, Littlepip found the magical weather-control machine. She plugged it into her ass and became a diety, opening the cloud covering and redeeming the raiders and instantly solving Fallout forever, to the point where the next generation's kids doubt the crazy stories their parents tell them really be true" ending.
She created a "Verse", so people would write stories in her "Verse" and get her more popularity, then she dedicated her final chapters to spitting in the faces of her fans and "Fixing Fallout", ignoring the reason why Fallout is never fixed at the end of any of its games.
Littlepip is an all-consuming black hole that distorts the world around her, a world the writer didn't add anything original to at all.
You are right though. My main issue is the similarity to FO3. When I read it first, I thought it was amazingly unique and had a massively complex plot. And then I played fallout 3 after. Don’t get me wrong, some parts were really good, but the main plot was literally just a ponified version of the game. To my mind, a crossover shouldn’t just be a rewrite.
I also struggle with Littlepip’s character as a whole too. I like that she gets so sick from drugs and alcohol, that was a good touch, but she seems unrealistic otherwise. She’s a weak unicorn, fine, no issues there. It’s a nice flaw, and seeing her able to only just levitate things is refreshing. Yet somehow she ends up being one of the strongest telekinetics around? I know she trained, but really?
8854665 It's not that I outright don't like it. I don't like After Earth, but I don't have any huge speeches to say about that piece of crap. What bothers me is that I DO like Fallout Equestria. Or I want to, or I did, I'm not sure what words to use to sum up my weird feelings for this fic. I loved it a lot at one point. It just has these massive gaping flaws that annoy me the more I look at them, and it often feels like I'm the only one who can see every last one of them and recognize them for what they are. Some people might recognize some flaws, sure, but I have yet to meet someone who realized how the fic's "And then Littlepip found the magic sword of weather controlling and used it to become a diety, fixing Fallout herself. The Elements of Harmony were discovered offscreen and they helped purge the rads after Littlepip already became a diety" thing was not just stupid, but an active insult to Fallout and everyone who wrote a FE fic, and the final nail in this fic's metaphorical "Yeah this whole thing was just an exercise in masturbation" coffin theory thing.
The dumbest shit? The dumbest shit is how it was so wrapped up in its own edginess and grimdarkness and rape, that became its appeal. But it had emo navel-gazing and a "Tortured" protagonist, so it convinced its kid fans they were reading something adult and intelligent. So when Micheal Bay's sexually-confused and sexually-frustrated thirteen-year-old cousin came along to write Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons, it blew that fic out of the water and surpassed it in popularity by being worse in every way, and only people who DIDN'T want to like the "Overly Popular" PH would pretend they liked the original more, out of a sense of contrarianism and misplaced loyalty. The fic had more sex, more blood, more violence, more rape, more sadness for the protag to go through, more poorly-thought-out scenes, and, to everyone's shock, a slightly less stupid ending.
