My feet moved slowly in front of each other, making the world around me feel like it was moving 2 times faster. Rain poured down from the sky as if being in a large shower, opening into a small town. The roads were always so empty, though so it didn't really bother me. I brought my head up, looking forward at the end of the sidewalk ahead of me, turning off into another street to the right of me, the rain creating a small mist around the edge. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone, along with my crappy earbuds.
Sliding them into my ears, and unlocking my phone, I opened the music app, scrolling through my hundreds of brony songs. I passed tons of well-known songs, like "Discord" by TheLivingtombStone and "Between Fairy Tales and Happy Endings" from PrinceWhateverer. But, instead of playing one of those, I settled on "Your Own Sky" from the same PrinceWhateverer. The beeping, in the beginning, forced me to turn it down slightly, so I don't damage my ears. As the music started up, the rain around me became completely silent under the loud metal music.
Suddenly, a large BOOM shook the earth under me, as I saw a large flash of light up in the sky, causing me to stumble back, dropping my phone, which pulled out my earbuds.
"Crap!" I quickly got up and walked over to my phone, and picked it up. The bottom was soaked with water as the front was dotted with small droplets of rain. "I hope that didn't do any damage," I whispered to myself, using my jacket to wipe off the water, and quickly switched it on. To my luck, no damage was done to it. I let out a sigh of relief before slipping the phone back into my pocket.
I guess it's best if I keep it out of the rain, for now. I continued down the street, keeping my eyes low so no other flashes of light would end up blinding me.
"Well, I don't need them!" I heard a high-pitched voice yell in the distance. I stopped, listening for the voice again. There was no other word spoken, so I decided to keep moving, keeping my eye's out for whoever said that. As I reached the end of the sidewalk, I made a quick glance down the street opposite of the road leading home. I stopped, seeing a small silhouette walking in my direction.
"Hello?" I turned towards it, doing my best to examine whoever was there. I heard a gasp, as the silhouette stopped just short of the street. I moved slightly closer, making sure to not scare them. The shape of whoever was there wasn't normal. It was small, but its body didn't look like anything human.
"W...Who are you...?" It asked. I heard it sniff slightly. I moved closer, watching the street for cars before slowly crossing the street to them.
"My name is Liam King." I paused. The voice sounded familiar. I started to get a better view of her. As I got closer to her, I started to notice the pick color that seemed to cover her body. Finally, the voice clicked in my head.
I moved up to her, revealing a small, familiar, straight haired pink pony. But this is impossible. She can't be real.
"M-my name is... Pinkie Pie...” I stood there in shock, watching the pink pony shiver in the cold rain. "N-Nice to meet you, Liam King...” She stared up at me, smiling softly. I couldn't say anything. All my words were lost inside my mind, clouded by the fact that Pinkie Pie, a fictional character from one of my favorite TV shows was here, standing before me. "Um, if you don't mind... Is it okay if I come with you? I don't wish to be out here in the rain...”
I just continued to stare, wondering if all of this was real. I thought for a moment, my words still lost to me. I wanted to say "yes" and take her home, but would that be right? Maybe I'm just hallucinating, this isn't really happening. Just then, another flash of lightning, burst out from behind Pinkie Pie, making her jump.
Quickly, she ran over to me, then behind me, shielding herself from the lightning flash. I turned my head to look at her, seeing her crying slightly. My heart broke at the sight of a usually happy pony cry out like this. Then and there, I made my decision. I quickly turned around, picking up the soaking wet pink pony, and began to dash back towards the direction of my house, not caring if I slip.
I couldn't let her cry like this. She was very light and didn't have much weight to her, so it was easy to lift her up, but I didn't want to think about anything else other than getting her inside, and out of the rain. As I crossed the street, I glanced down slightly, looking at her. She looked back up at me, small tears still in her eyes, threatening to drop. I looked back in front of me, seeing the sidewalk turn right down my street.
I slowed down slightly, making a sharp turn. As I did so, I could feel my feet start to fall out from under me, due to all the water. I reached my right hand out to catch myself, and I pushed myself back up onto my feet and continued to run forward. As I passed by all the houses neighboring my house, I could feel my lungs start to burn with all the energy I was wasting. Finally, I passed by the house next to mine.
I turned, slowing down more, and past one of my parent’s cars. I walked up onto the porch where there should be some shelter. Stopping for a moment, I took a few deep breaths, trying to get rid of this burning feeling in my chest from all the running. Slowly, I began to move up the steps, and pushed open the door, and into the hallway leading to the living room. I kicked the door closed behind me and walked past the laundry room, and into the living room.
I kneeled down and set Pinkie down softly, and stood back up.
"There..." I took a deep breath, placing my hand on my burning chest. "Out of the rain..." Moving past Pinkie, I collapsed onto my chair, right next to my computer, and smiled slightly, looking at Pinkie Pie, my wet hair falling onto my forehead, and Pinkie's moved hers off to the side of her head.
That short description you had up sounded pretty psychotic, to say the least.
I'm loving this so far! Very few details, but just enough to make it bearable and you included my favorite pony Pinkie Pie!
I applaud you good sir!
'Claps hands'
At least you're honest about the self-insert, I'll give that.
7110543 Eh, I might change it.
I've re-read it multiple times, and I can see why you say that.
7110805 I was very sceptical about this story being posted on here, and for good reason. Writing self-inserts feels wrong, but I decide to post it because my friends thought I should.
To be honest, I was expecting this story to get hate.
7110560 Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
7111624 No wait, I wasn't being sarcastic. You're being honest about the nature of the story and you've clearly realized that it's not the best layout. I can't speak for anyone else, but the amount of chumps here writing themselves into their fics (I'm looking at you displaced "authors") and try to deny/defend it really makes the honest writers here a breath of fresh air.
7111898 ah, okay. Still, I'm very surprised by the positive responses this story is getting.
New, different, I love it! Will there be more perhaps?
Was this inspired by 'My Little Dashie?'
I'm just curious, it is totally fine if this story was.
7112933 I know it's an odd thing to say, but I've never read 'My Little Dashie'.
7112927 Yeah, there will be more. I'm working on the next chapter.
This looks pretty good story i looking forward to the next chapter goodluck
