Just a minor delay, last bit of this chapter is taking longer to get out of my head and on the screen than I expected and I keep scrapping what I've written since it strays so far from where I'm going with this while not going anywhere... If it were a matter of the tangent actually resolving a storyline, I'd keep it, but it just seems to be trying to wander away with the story.

Fanfiction Friday will be delayed for 1 week so I can get this chapter out.

As I promised, I'm still working on LLW. I've got some pretty big plans for this story, up to and including sequels. Now one thing you may not know about me is I prefer not to kill off any characters if I can avoid it. I don't like my heroes dying stupidly, and most death scenes in fiction are phenomenally stupid and contrived and intended more to shock the audience than to provide actual entertainment. Plus, it blows as far as payoff for the reader. "Will the protagonist make it?" *YOINK*

I'm still plugging away at the chapter of LLW, so I can definitely say progress is being made, it's just taking MUCH longer than I expected.

As a bonus, I thought of a way to make this chapter waaaaay more interesting that I originally had planned, and I figured this out early enough that I could do the re-tooling with without losing any time or deleting anything and all the set-pieces and characters will still wind up exactly where I need them to be later on.

As much as I wanted to make this chapter a two-week max deadline, it just isn't going to happen. Last week was an absolute drainer, and while every day has resulted in some progress, we're talking like a line or three, maybe a paragraph. Clearly, I'm going to have to re-think my process a bit.

I'm about halfway done with the chapter, so if I dedicate a block of time to it on Sunday afternoon, I might be able to post it in time for some Monday reading. Wish me luck!

Newest chapter of LLW is up, and I'm actually really happy with how it turned out.

Another Fanfiction Friday this weekend, be sure to get your votin' clickin' appendages ready. Also, a reminder that while LLW will be up for election this week, if it wins again it will not be eligible for the next Fanfiction Friday poll.

So there I was, writing away, when a cute and entertaining idea pounced on me mercilessly! It was horrible, like watching a kitten tear apart a piece of cotton fluff! Oh, the tragedy!

Seriously, though, I did have a cute little idea sneak up on me. Provided a great segue between two events in the same scene but at different points in time. The reference is probably far, far too old for most of you, but a tiny handful of y'all should get the joke.

So you will be pleased to note that work proceeds on the next chapter of LLW, and I'm quite pleased with what I've worked out so far, both actually typed out and structured in my head for this chapter.

The majority of the work, so far, has been just in doing research. I wanted to add just a touch of world-building while adding to my own story. Thus I purchased two IDW comics and will be buying a third:

So I happened to be glancing at one of the chapters of LLW to reply to a comment someone made and discovered something interesting; the quotes I put at the top of each chapter are jammed up in next to the first line of each chapter. It's like the new code base is ignoring all the line breaks between the closing tag of the quote.

I'll be going through to fix that later (probably to make sure it gets locked down the next time I post a LLW chapter), but I am aware of it.
