[UPDATE] <rarity>I-DE-AAAAAA!!!</rarity> · 5:13pm Feb 16th, 2022

So I'm doing my usual thing when I'm writing a chapter that I need to make sure I'm getting right by reviewing the text that came before it while listening to thematically appropriate music.

When I started LLW, I had two specific scenes in mind. One (which is now on the cutting room floor) features Twilight figuring out that "Princess Columbia" isn't what she appears and Chrystal dropping her alicorn disguise. It's a slightly heart-rending scene, but with the way I've plotted LLW out, it simply wouldn't fit anymore.

The other is one I've dropped soooo many hints about that turned this from a "silly little self-insert jobby wherein my changeling'd self meets the Mane6" to the political intrigue isekai drama it is today. I'm 100% confident that the story wouldn't exist (I don't much like "scenes from a hat self-indulgence" fics) were it not for this scene.

THAT scene, however, is part of my original idea for the setting of Lost Little Wolf, a story that takes place during the run of the actual show. Which, as you guessed, is significantly after the events I'm telling in LLW.

So if you're somewhat new to LLW, this may be a bit of a surprise to you; LLW is a prequel to the actual story I set out to tell in this universe.

So what is the next volume in the series that now starts with LLW? Well...I never actually came up with a name. It was always going to take place in Canterlot, and every step of the journey was going to follow the knock-on effect of the adventures of the Mane6 as they set about (inadvertently) upending pony society and culture completely. The Tripple-G still happens (and near the end still turns into a complete disaster), Discord makes his entrance, The Royal Wedding is a thing that occurs, etc. This story is all about the fallout of all those events, all the little choices that have Butterfly Effects throughout the nation and (eventually) other worlds. (Yes, EQG is a thing I'll be doing...what, you thought I was going to let another Sunset go unadopted by Momlestia?! It's like you don't even know me! :trollestia:)

While listening to the thematically appropriate music, A Scene started forming in my mind, one just before The Big Scene that inspired this whole..."franchise," for lack of a better term. It's perfect and exactly what the story needs and I'm SO BUMMED it'll be a while before I can actually say anything more about it.

While I was putting this song on a playlist for inspiration, the name of the next fic ALSO came to me:

Lost Little Wolf: Shadows of Harmony

I've also come up with a name for the third book (plot points already hinted at):

Lost Little Wolf: Armageddon

Yes, that's big, it's showy, and it's ominous. It's a perfect fit. 😈

This naturally leads to the question; am I going to subtitle the current book? And the answer is...not yet. Not only do I not want to confuse the matter until the last chapter is published (at which time it'll be a moot point anyway), but the new title only makes sense in the context of the trillogy:

Lost Little Wolf: The Minor Key

Yes, that is directly referenced in Chapter 12.

Work on Ch. 13 does proceed and it shouldn't take too much longer to finish.

Just make sure you finish the whole story no matter how many books it takes. No offense but some authors write a good story then start a sequel and never finish. I want to read the whole darn thing no matter how long it takes.
