If I remember right, I had all of one story published here, and maybe like a dozen followers, half of which were just people who I already knew anyway. I submitted the first chapter of this story to Equestria Daily basically on a whim, wondering if it could make it in, and somehow it did. But the real surprise was the response.

So, I've finally finished the first draft of chapter 36, the final chapter of A Delicate Balance. Given that this chapter has to cap off a story that's nearly 300K words long, I'll naturally want to take a few days to smooth it out, but holy crap. It's so surreal to think that the story is, for the most part, complete. There's still editing, but the actual process of writing the story is done. After spending so long working on it, it's going to feel really weird not doing so.

Okay, following up on yesterday's post. I've decided to basically rewrite the chapter. I'll borrow elements from the original version, but on the whole it's easier to simply rebuild it from scratch and put the good bits back in than try to fix up the old chapter. It might take a bit to finish it, but the actual process of writing it is going much smoother now. I'm already about 600 words into the new version after only a day, which might not sound like much, but that's probably more than I got

1. I've spent the last five days out of town due to family business and haven't gotten any writing done.
