Chapter 36 · 12:56pm Oct 8th, 2014
So, I've finally finished the first draft of chapter 36, the final chapter of A Delicate Balance. Given that this chapter has to cap off a story that's nearly 300K words long, I'll naturally want to take a few days to smooth it out, but holy crap. It's so surreal to think that the story is, for the most part, complete. There's still editing, but the actual process of writing the story is done. After spending so long working on it, it's going to feel really weird not doing so. Seriously, I've spent time on this project nearly every day for the past few years, to the point that it's essentially part of my routine. Now I'll have to find something else to fill that time. Probably Super Smash Bros. 3DS.
But seriously, I do have some ideas of what I'm going to do now that this project is mostly in the bag, but I'll save that for a future post once it's totally done. In the meantime, I just hope that I can do the ending of the story justice. It's been a challenge trying to wrap everything up in a way that isn't too rushed or too drawn out. And thanks for sticking around for all this time and actually making it to the end. :p
I'll be looking forward the last chapter, though I am sad to see the story ending. This is one of the most unique shipping stories with its pacing and development, and I've always loved that. Still, kudos for finishing such a wonderful and impressive work.
Wonder what you are going to write next. Might there be more shipping? Another epic romance, maybe?
2517882 I hate to burst your bubble, but just about the only thing I've decided for sure about my next major project is that it won't be a shipping story. Not because I have anything against it, but because after spending two years working on it, I'll get burnout really fast. Writing this was fun, but I think after this I'll need to try something different if I don't want to drive myself nuts. Once I finish this story, I'll put up another blog post about my plans.
Aaaahhh, I need to get caught back up! I fell waaaaay behind with everything after I forgot how to read, so I've got like... six chapters I haven't read yet. Not sure how likely I am to do that before you post the final chapter, but hopefully I'm not finally only just getting to it months from now.
