I didn't do any advance planning on this one. I like a lot of the individual scenes. I was wrestling with it because the structure is really sloppy and I'm worried about the ending maybe being unsatisfying.

That's not a big deal. I can deal with that. I've been writing a long time, I've struggled before.

Conversations with Maud tend to be really to the point.

Seriously, this is the shortest chapter I've ever published here, but It was ridiculously hard to write; I had to completely redo it three times until I was happy with it. But I'm happy with it now!

I usually use the Hero's Journey as a structural guideline rather than being super literal about it, but I was looking at the chart and thinking about the story, and I'm like, "this sure seems like a good time for a meeting with a Goddess and a confrontation with a Father". So that's what I did.
