Gosh, isn't Harwick just the best?
Gosh, isn't Harwick just the best?
You're probably going to like this a lot.
It's my next proper novel length story, first ten chapters dropped today, the next few over the next few days. Then a little bit longer after that as we get into the unwritten parts, but hey, that's how Moonfic worked out too, yeah? This one's closer to the end at least.
Mare Who Once Lived on the Moon has been (basically) finished as a rewrite into an original fiction novel, and just requires being sent around to agents. Huge deal, I’m panicked as hell, not looking forward to the rejection letters on two years worth of work.
Anyway.
Love has triumphed, wrongs set right
Evil has fallen and goodness has won
The motley crew has a future most bright
And poor Twilight Sparkle an empire to run
Each thread I can think of is wrapped up all tight
A story of lasers, love and a very big gun.
But we do not go yet into that good night
Even though this story is done
Because if I were to ever to have my way,
I'll write again 'bout their wedding day.
Mare Who Once Lived on the Moon just updated, but it is not appearing in your notifications, I don't think. So here's a blog telling you to go check up on it, there should be a link around here somewhere. Oh! Yes, there it is, right down there at the bottom, past the poem I wrote to make this blog feel less empty.
At the midnight hour the wild men stir, foul creatures of the night
To walk and gawk but never talk, they're quite a horrid sight
So three weeks ago I set up a prompt contest, and I wanted to talk about that, because the entries were good and the comments hit the nail on the head, I think, for what I was talking about with prompts. Those comments and talking about prompts again will be in a followup blog post, after this one. Right now? I want to show off the entries I got, because they're pretty great and fantastic and deserve a little love.
Okay so here was the plan; Finish up the last paragraph or so of Moonfic, send it to the prereaders, publish it ASAP.
I did not anticipate, over the last week, that I would get double tonsillitis.
Yeah, so it turns out you can actually get viral and bacterial tonsillitis at the same time, and I did just that. So the chapter's going to take a few more days while I try to stop being in agony. I am trying very hard but it is not working yet.
So I finished the chapter tonight. According to Google, it's in the 15,000 words range, after cutting and rewriting a few scenes. It'll be sent to the pre-readers and editors tomorrow. Or maybe the day after if I realize I've missed a scene somewhere. It's rather easy for them to get lost in the fifty pages or so. Hrrm.
Me: "Read my fic!"
Her: "No. No ponies."
Me: "READ MY FIC"
Her: "NO"
ME: "READ MY FIC"
HER: "FUCKING FINE"
