In the comic featuring the dragon and yak debacle, Spike listens to not only his friends makes hurtful accusations about dragons right in front of him without even caring or realizing it affects him too. But even the Wonderbolts do. What if because of this Spike starts resenting the Wonderbolts calling them Dragon-Hating-Pegasi. When word of this reaches the Wonderbolts, Spitfire, Fleetfoot, and Soarin to name a few actually take this to heart and realize how insensitive they were and fear how badly this makes them look to both ponies and dragons. And desire to prove themselves to Spike they don't really hate dragons.
