I don't like these rumblings on the right about banning porn, for those that are saying "it will never happen" I and many others here thought the same thing about much of the woke insanity we are currently witnessing as well. While we are in dire need to a correction, humanity has a rather nasty habit of correcting by going way too far the other way. It probably won't happen tomorrow, but might in 10-20 years or so. I still remember when the religious right still had actual political power, it wasn't that long ago the W Bush got re-elected in part because of "values".

Had not heard of this idea coming up but obviously the right is wrong if it goes down this path, I am also not entirely surprised considering how indignant they often get when stuff like foalcon or degeneracy comes up. I am hard line libertarian and think the wokist are a mortal danger to post-enlightenment western society, but you are right in worrying about over-correction.

We used to be the community of love and tolerance, and I will stand by it no matter which side is infringing, hopefully there will always be other like minded to keep our flame alive.

Live and let live.

Yeah, this would backfire horribly. Fact, we have lots of lonely men and women who will never get laid, and you take away this from them. This will cause unnecessary pent-up stress. Not everyone has charm and wit to get a girl/man, and they need porn. I doubt many would enforce it regardless.

They probably be States in the US that will become very popular if they say porn is legal here.

7797057 Has any human in the whole history of time gotten hurt by the act of watching porn? Why are we trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist?

They are clearly jealous of superior ponies. Humans can't compete with that. One day there will be pony waifu made real, and lots of humans will be reactionary. XD

There's a greater chance they will reduce military spending, than ban porn. Absolutely none in the ruling class wants to ban porn. None!

Various people catering to small groups may pretend they want to do it, or that they want to reduce military spending, but it's easy to work for a goal that can never happen, because you don't have to answer to any effects of your work.

7797567 Libertarian ideas are becoming increasingly mainstream, it dosen't mean people are embracing every libertarian idea but it can potentially provide a balance of sorts.

7797588 True, some states would defy any attempt at a federal ban. If such a thing takes hold it would likely start at the state level. I do however think that while there are some people that can't get laid that there probably are many that actually could if they worked on themselves a bit. I do think self improvement should be encouraged more as the current culture seems to discourage it. We need not have draconian restrictions on the private activities of adults to do this.

7797602 One of their main arguments is how addictive it can be, it is indeed true that some can become addicted though the same can be said of any activity which can bring pleasure. That dosen't mean there aren't people that legit need help dealing with that, but criminalizing them will likely make things worse by discouraging people who really are addicted from seeking help.

7797684 That is the case in the current political environment, the ruling class has a habit of co-opting social movements for their own purposes while often secretly violating them. A key example is prohibition, it was a legit grassroots movement which gained enough traction to pass the 18th Amendment banning alcohol. The ruling class didn't obey it, but sure weren't going to pass up an opportunity to justify expanding their power over the American people. "Social justice" is currently serving the interests of the elite, though once that is no longer the case I could see them making a pivot.

7797786 We already have a system where pornography is banned. It's called clergy. We can see the result of such a system. Loads of raped children.

Turns out that people get horny even without porn. Even more so since they don't have any safe relief.
