I'm planning to write a magitech fic using RUNEs as a major concept. Does anyone have any suggestions on what RUNE could stand for? Or at least the R?

Technomagic devices that grant the user specific magic abilities. Two forms:
1. Nexus: natural; can be fused with the host.
2. Magnus: artificial; external use, incorporated into weapons, gadgets, etc.

Is RUNE an acronym? IF so what does the rest of it stand for? That would help us who dont know the source material for the cross over to help you out.
