I never did understand why folks would feel the need to post in a group forums when they write a story.

Add the story to the group if it fits. People get a feed notification when you do.

Post a new thread in a group, now people have two feed notifications instead of one. Irritating spam like that is a big source of "downvoted; didn't read."

Add to that, advertising in dead groups. The very definition of useless.
