Name: Prim Palisade
Race: Crystal Pony (Unicorn)
Sex: Female
Age: Mare

Description:
Though unusual for a unicorn to don heavy magic-resistant plate that is exactly what this protection specialist does. Her spells run the gambit from platoon size shields, to structural reinforcement, to personal endurance and strength enhancement augmentations. If anything needs being backed up she's you're mare.

Born in the 1,000 years Pre-Twilight (pT) era, she suffered through the reign of Discord before he was taken down by the Celestial Sisters, and because of this she joined the Crystal Empire's Crystal Corps. She would happily give her life to protect her squad mates, or whomever she swears allegiance to, and is frequently both the first and last pony on the battlefield; thinking it her duty to ensure everyone gets home safely she won't leave until everyone else has.

Her propensity for enduring augments has had an effect on her personality. Once stoic and cautious, this nigh unkillable mare has become more reckless the stronger her mastery of defense has become. However, as a designated shield bearer she never carries a weapon into combat.

Though as invincible as she seems, she does know the fragility of a crystal heart, thanks to the rule of King Sombra.

Cutie Mark:
A large shield over a bulwark (castle wall with ramparts) lit up by the flash of a shield spell.

Appearance:
Though she's a crystal pony with complete crystalline appearance, that luxurious luster is often masked under her practical armor. Her armor is her most distinguishing feature, and is thematically appropriate for what ever conflict she's engaged in. Her long hair is maintained in a practical fashion, often done up in a pony tail, with her bangs are swept back or to the sides so that they're away from her eyes.

Her color scheme uses various blue tourmalines with the lightest colors for eyes, and darkest for the hair.

Restrictions: None, do as you like, but keep in mind that she's a warrior at heart and a bit thick everywhere else.
Use: If you use her, please comment here with a link to the story so that I may read it.

That's pretty interesting. I may have use for this one later. I'll tell you if I do. I like this one.

I definitely need that one. I was just searching for a perfect subordinate for General Wait and See and I think she would be perfect. She seems to be dutiful and serious, which clashes with the general.

Just wondering about one thing: Why is she a Unicorn? Maybe Unicorn and Crystal Pony parents?

4219077 In case i didn't make the distinction: she is a crystal pony unicorn. Both parents are crystal pony unicorns. I thought I had mentioned it when I listed her color scheme in terms of crystals but I might have forgotten. Though, if you are to use her, you can make her a normal unicorn, half-crystal half-normal in your story if you want.

Anyway, the reason that she is a (crystal) unicorn is that I had the idea for her to be the paramount of protection. Personal versions of the city wide spells Shining Armor and Princess Cadence is known for. Since Princess Cadence is the princess of the Crystal Empire I figured it was a good fit.

When I used her in my own story it was just as one of many ponies who were the top of their highly specialized field. She only got mentioned by name because she died a senseless death gave her life to protect her squad.

Ok. Should probably have used google for that one. I just recalled seeing only Earth Crystal Ponies, but there are some exceptions. :twilightsheepish:

But still interesting. Most Crystal Ponies are Earth Ponies, so it could be possible that there is such a thing like mixed pairings with such children. But that is only a theory of mine.

Thanks for the fast response. I think I will have a good use for her. Come to think of it, that is the third OC character I'm going to implement, that I haven't created. I think I start to love this group. There are so many interesting OCs. I just hope, that I write them all right and that I can spice the story up with them. Just wished I had the planning already done. I just want to write immediately, but this certainly is not the way. :twilightsheepish:

Another question. This time about her 'magic-resistant plate'. Is it on her armor or part of her armor or is it maybe even something like a shield?

Her spells run the gambit from platoon size shields

So she can make magical shields? How does she defend herself when she is alone? Does she use shields as an offensive weapon?

4254266 The magical resistance is a quality of the materials her armor is made out of. Plate mail is the style of armor she uses. Her magic, much like her magical armor, is "thematically appropriate" meaning what ever is appropriate for the story. I was none too specific about how she uses her magic because, like all unicorns, it is just an extension of her personality. If any writer chooses to use this character I won't really have a big say in how they decide to interpret that personality, and script those sequences.

While I never wrote her having the need to use defensive spells offensively, I won't say she can't, because when we're talking about using a character we're also talking about making them belong in the story. How you choose to perceive the character's personality, and their role in the story, will determine what magic she can and can't cast.

As a general rule of thumb I advise the mindset that the best offense is an impenetrable defense. That her ability and action focus is centered upon combat positioning, and strategy, rather than direct damage. By towing the party line she can help ponies more capable of dishing out offensive maneuvers (damaging spells) into a prime position, while covering them when they get there, and doing such is her first concern rather than worrying about dealing damage herself.

I will keep that in mind. Just noticed the question, then I came to writing the scene! :twilightsheepish:

I think, I will need to ponder a little about how to write the scene.

I think, I will need to ponder a little about how to write

Like most groups, that's all anyone here can really ask of anyone else.

Ok. One last question. (Or at least I think it's the last one. :twilightsheepish:) You provided no family background and I wondered, if I could create that one freely. I already have some things for that in mind, but thought I should ask, before going further with this.

4281740 The character's family history is generally unimportant to me, since so much of what she is was defined by her magic, her place of birth, and circumstances of the time. Feel free to write/do anything you like with it because there are a lot of ways for the character to reach the above mindset, from a lot of different starting points.
