who sees an issue with the way that he's loading this?

Not really no. Unless I'm missing something?

Shouldn't the wad go down the bore BEFORE the shot? I may be wrong though.
Edit: Also, shouldn't they have primed the pan LAST?

He is a supposed expert and he didn't load the shot before the put the priming powder in.

Everything :twilightangry2:. What an amateur.:facehoof:

I thought it went powder, wad, then shot? Could be wrong tho

It does go powder, wad, shot... with a rifle that holds 1 ball in a tight barrel. This is a shotgun that holds many balls in a large barrel, because you can't get the shot tight in the barrel, it'll just roll out the end when tipped down.

The one that stuck out to me was that he loaded the priming pan first. You end up having to load the pan again before you even fire if you do that: gravity knows no master.

Standard historical practice was to prime first, at least for soldiers, as they would tear open the paper cartridge, pour some powder into the pan, then shove the entire cartridge down the barrel, with torn open powder end being held at the mouth for a second to make sure the powder actually pours out, then goes the ball with the paper as the wad.

As at that time reload speed > safety.

Otherwise when using preloaded paper cartridges you would end up starting at the barrel, have to be careful to not dump all the load down the barrel, saving some for the pan, tilt gun back down to prime the pan, then tilt gun back up to load the cartridge into the barrel and ram it down.

I wont argue with you there, I'd do it last too. But the steel striker, when down should hold the powder in and if not, there should be enough residual left in the hole. But yeah, pan should be last, moreso to avoid a premature shot.

Literally just addressed this.

Didn't read. Sorry.

Hmm, it makes sense. I didn't think of it that way.
