Changelings didn't just randomly defend unicorns, especially probably-possessed-by-an-ancient-evil unicorns. He knew exactly what he'd heard and knew for a fact that the mare in question was looking into resurrecting the Nightmare, and he wasn't about to leave Command Snowfall on her own.
