I made a blog post to create awareness for this group and bat ponies in general.

Hopefully, we'll see an influx of new bat pony stories, now that their status as a new species of pony is canon!

Kinda creepy. So they were just lurking in those caves for a thousand years, breeding within a strictly limited population and hiding from Celestia, each generation teaching the next that their purpose was to serve the princess who'd one day return, and each new generation unquestioningly accepting it? And then she returned and brought them into the open and Celestia was like "Sure, okay"? The phrase "raises more questions than it answers" comes to mind.
